I played this course for the first time on a very windy day , mid - winter. Despite the conditions I had a great time. The course is interesting and a challenge, but not too hard for a higher handicap player like me ( 19) . it deserves 4 stars or more

Contacted Warrnambool Golf Club to see if I could play and review.

Manageress told me green fees are $46 and to to play book a tee quickly as they just made top 100 public golf courses in Australia and they are considering upping the green fees on the back of this.

No thanks I will play elsewhere, what arrogance.

Terrible

Played Warrnambool GC 10 days ago for the first time since 2006 and it was even better than I remembered. $45 for 18 holes is a steal. It would be worth paying that fee just to play the 4th, 5th and 6th holes (Shipwreck Bend) which are epic!

Played Warrnambool in late April 2017. We followed the green staff around in the morning so had freshly rolled greens which were immaculant (with the exception of 10th and 12th). There may be a tendancy for them to spike up late in the day though as even this early we were noticing some spike marks. Fairways were good and we enjoyed our round. There are some fantastic holes on the course such as the par 4s 4th, 5th, 6th & 14th, par 5 10th however there are also a lot of holes that you seem to playing over again. Condition wise Warrnambool was superior to Port Fairy but as far as the course design Port Fairy is superior.

Played here 2 months ago and found it to be an all round great track. Couldn't fault the greens in fact they were in the top 10 of any greens i have ever played. Fairways were in great condition. Course can be really challenging in parts and a couple of holes were daunting and bordering on un-playable for the wayward golfer. Wind would definitely be make this course play much harder. Pro was super friendly and gave some good tips about what to look out for etc. Also good value. Highly recommend.

Played this course growing up numerous times and it was in absolute pristine condition, seemed to deterioate around about the late 90s with a water problem and the greens and fairways were in average condition. Earlier they used to hold the Victorian PGA there. Havent played there now for over a decade so I hope its back to its best as it is a great layout. Some magnificent par4s on the front nine, very challenging if you don't hit straight especially if the winds up. Holes 10 and 11 are the hardest on course so front nine can be easier if your hitting straight. Some great memories there and recommend if your in the area then definitely play it.
