The land on which the golf course lies on was bought in 1994 by debenture loans from the club members. Nagambie Golf Club was established in 1996 and now measures 6088m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 135-183m, ten par 4s ranging from 272-417m and four par 5s ranging from 482-526m. Some wet years since the previous review has revitalised the course which has 18 generally small 10m long x 10m wide bent grass greens which are a recent addition to the course and play quite slow. The course has wintergreen couch teebeds. The fairways are a mixture of winter rye and clover grass with the 4th fairway having predominate natural couch grass. Highlights include: the 507m straight 9th (index 3) with the flag visible from the tee mound and OOB along the entire rightside; and the 526m slight bend right 14th (index 6) with a red-stake pond along the leftside rough off the tee to a green which is not visible from the tee. The layout is flat and the front nine is lengthened to have a repetitive layout of walking back down the fairway you just played to reach the next tee. The back nine is a slightly better layout with a few more challenging holes and a red-staked hazard to break up the mundane up-and-back layout. The course has one part-time greenskeeper and for a course run by volunteers and its members there are no bunkers here. The course's best attribute are the genuine 3-shot par 5s with all being over 480m in length. The course obtains its water from bore water to irrigate the layout with plans to secure a desalination plan for the course. This may seem a little far off given the club has just over 120 members. Played here 28/09/2012 with $15 green fees. On the day I played there were frequent light rain showers and the greens seem to have a drainage issue with the greens having a silt base instead of a sand base. Pools of water accumulate towards most of the front half of the greens. Course access is from Cemetery Lane just south of the town off the Goulburn Valley Highway. The soon-to-be-opened' highway bypass will ease some traffic noise on the course when opened at the end of 2013. Nagambie is a Goulburn Valley area town of around 1400 people approximately 200m above sea level. For a course entirely built by its members and the community support I must acknowledge that their hard work is duly noted and is not the worst course I have played. Worth a hit here.

I played 18 holes at Nagambie today, and walked away pretty dissapointed in the condition of the course. Obviously the local/recent water shortages play a major role, but the fairways are in very average condition. The greens also looked like they had not been mowed in 4 or 5 days and are very patchy with lots of sand. The front nine is in quite poor condition, but the back nine is slightly better offering a few decent holes. Id possibly go back there one day, but the course would need to have a considerable amount of tlc before i considered it.
