Played here today as Summer approaches. The fairways are starting to dry out but not too bad yet. Tees & greens are well watered but the greens are very small & slow. There are a few tight driving holes but most are open & not too many hazards to worry about. Great value at $10 for green fees.

Like many of our country courses, Romsey has been greatly effected by the ongoing drought. There has not been good winter rains around this area since 1996 and as for follow-up spring rain, that has been almost non existent. There is a very hard working group of volunteers who maintain and improve this course and 2010's slightly better summer and early autumn rain has seen good growth, if a little uneven, on the fairways and steady development of the many native trees that have been planted. The par 71 layout has been in operation for almost five years now; it has proven to be quite challenging with only a small number of golfers approaching or beating 71. Playing this course requires great accuracy, the greens are small and going over the back will lead to serious problems. perhaps the best holes are; 1. The par 3 15th. At 182 metres it is a good test of long iron accuracy. The sloping green requires you to keep below the hole. 2. the par 4 8th. A good drive is essential on the 401 metre hole; the uncut native grass on either side of the fairway make accuracy important. 3. The par 4 9th. A dog-leg right 360m hole to a small sloping green. Long hitters go "Over the Top" but the smallest error will see you out of bounds. The club is in the process of establishing a 385 m par 4 18th. This will be a tough, uphill hole that will be greatly effected by southern or westerly winds. This is a great little course, it is recovering from the extended dry and the recent works to the fairways, greens and gardens/new trees will see a much improved golf course come spring. It is not a sand belt course, but if you are looking for one of them out here then you have missed a turn somewhere.

Is this actually a golf course????? I played here 2 weeks ago and was stunned! It looks like someone owns a few acres here and has dropped a few holes in the ground, then stuck a flag in them. Doesn't feel like a game of golf here, fairways were trashy, the rough was more like a jungle! the greens were too small, and as bumpy as shit. Best bet is drive a couple km's down the road and have a hit at Lancefield, great condition at the moment.

I havee played here a few times now and i think it is a pritty sub-standed course. It has a few challinging holes. The greens were fairly quick and pull up alright. My only down side to this nice counrty course was its 12 holes and smaller greens

Travelled from Melbourne to have my first round at Romsey.

After playing sandbelt and metro courses, very disappointed. What I thought would be a quaint country course, fell short of all expectations. Greens need attention and overall presentation lackingwith few challenges. Much better courses in the region.
