Maldon Golf Club
18 Holes
PAR 65
4323 M

Maldon is Australia’s "First [and only] Notable Town", based on gold mining which ceased as a major industry in the 20’s, leaving an intact collection of mining cottages, late 19th and early 20th century homes, and public buildings dating back to the gold rush of the 1850’s. The shopping precinct and other streetscapes are unique.

The golf club has a season operating from early April to late October, and 9 holes are kept playable for the Summer months. An honour system operates for visiting players, and golfers with handicaps are welcome to join in club events.

Though short, the course is quite challenging and undulating in parts. There are a number of blind shots to be played, and there ia a par 3 that can be approached only over some very tall gums. Sand greens are always a challenge to the uninitiated.

The Club Tournament is always held over the first weekend in August.

Played here today, soon after the course hosted the 2018 Vic Sand Greens Championships. It was in great nick & easily the best sandscrape course out of the 34 that I have played. $10 green fees & a very interesting layout with undulations, particularly on the front 9. It was a lot of fun! I'm sure I wouldn't have the same opinion if I tried to play here in Summer.
