Lakes Entrance Golf Club

The layout and presentation of Lakes Entrance Golf Course are nationally recognised and we are rated one of the top golf courses in Australia; resort, private and public included. The water and wind are obvious and often trying features, while the sand and vegetation are natural, beautiful and provide tests of their own.

But if things are "just not happening" with the golf, take in the magnificent coastal scenery and stunning birdlife.

We have over 150 different residents and regular visitors; eagles, kites and other raptors, honeyeaters and parrots aplenty (including the rare swift parrot), sea and water birds in droves and much, much more.

Played Lakes Entrance last week. Very good country track. Certainly potential for more stunning ocean views. Not sure why land closer to the ocean hasn't been used.. (maybe its national park?)

A nice golf course in great condition with a nice front nine and the back nine just as good . Sometimes better not to take the driver on the shorter holes

A very attractive layout incorporating the natural lakes and sand dunes to good effect. A great variety of holes and elevations means you will use most clubs in your bag and stepping up to the tee on the par 4's and 5's will give you plenty to think about, it's not a course where you automatically grab your driver. Greens and bunkers were in good condition and comparable with other VIC country courses. I'm sure most golfers will really enjoy the course.

Played here a fortnight ago. Simply a great course, just pick your conditions. Longer than I was expecting but not brutal. I'll keep this short and sweet though. Great course although the proshop welcome was a little underwhelming, if hospitable. Played it twice and definitely worth the visit if in the area. Have posted a few photos in the 'Smergens Golf Photos' on Pages 9 and 10 if you want a gander.

This is genuinely a very good course. It has variety with the first two opening tee shots giving the opportunity to take on water carries. Then you are led along the sand dunes with well defined holes carved amongst the native bush. There is real visual appeal to the course, excellent condition, good pricing and a fair test for all golfers.

An 'unknow and hidden gem' is the best way to describe LEGC...and why it isnt so well known probably comes from the fact that the idea of top quality golf courses in the east of the state does not resonate for most.

With water in play on the drive on the opening two holes and then the stretch from three through seven running down Ninety Mile Beach (which is in play and not OOB!!) the start is stunning. A slightly more parkland back nine has the grand fouteenth par five followed by the short fifteenth, an elevated tee shot over another pond to a large well bunkered green. If LEGC wants a signature hole then this is an easy one to sell.

Port Fairy, Horsham and Warnambool, along with the Murray courses are well known destinations...LEGC shopud be too. One of the most weather resistant course imaginable, most other courses can be closed and it can be in excellent condition. LEGC is without doubt in the top 5 of our country courses and is one all keen golfers should avail themselves of playing.
