Creek
Played here again yesterday. Course continues to impress with great layout & good quality fairways, greens & hazards. Some bunkers were in need of another layer of sand but generally very good. Not cheap to play but you get what you pay for. Another good experience!

Thirteenth Beach - Beach
Seriously good, hard but fair links golf course. Hit off at 3pm, wind probably 30k plus from south east and knowing course had a reputation - but enough width at driving distance to keep ball in play and moving forward. Chipping and putting is key to good score here. And the par 3's are worth the green fee alone. 16th was worth the wait - little choice but to play your best shot or hope for a calm day. Had a really good round until 17th got me, but I'll be back. Not sure I'll ever be able to play the Creek now knowing the Beach is next door. Awesome value for a twilight round.

Thirteenth Beach - Beach

I didn't enjoy this course as much as I should have. It has most things in place to be a great course but I think it is overdesigned. It has 3 of the best par 3's in the country and the par 4 5th is a wonderful little hole with the green cheekily sticking out to the left of a nest of bunkers hiding the safer play. But I believe a good golf hole asks to be attacked and the trouble is subtle. The par 5 6th is an example where the fairway narrows to a very small chute for the long hitter or the short hitters second shot and there is a decent size lump of rough right in front of the green. Instead of the hole enticing the long hitter to go for it in 2 it is discouraging anyone from taking on the hole. Half the older players at my own club just wouldn't be able to play this hole. They also wouldn't be able to reach the 1st fairway with a forced carry of 60-70 odd metres. I know 13th beach isn't marketed towards these golfers but even Royal Melbourne can be played by running the ball along the ground.

There were lots of thing I liked about the course but did I "enjoy" my day? I'm not so sure.

Thirteenth Beach - Beach
Played the beach course for the first time today. Wow what an amazing course design! There are some cracking holes in there and some good bunkering or mounds to protect the greens. The greens were a great challenge and pin placements would change the hole completely. The course plays long, so you will need a great drive off the tee to be any chance of a good score. Definitely pays to have course knowledge. The clubhouse was probably the best club I've seen so far. Amazing area to sit outside under cover with plenty of TV's, couches + benches to relax after your game. Has a "Hamptons" feel to it. At $75 for 18 being an RACV member, its not cheap, but a thoroughly enjoyable day.

Creek
Not quite as handsome as it's brother course (beach), but the creek course still is a great day out. It's greens, fairways and bunkers are up to standard of the beach course, the layout isn't quite as enjoyable. As the name suggests, the course is laid out along the creek rather than the beach and as such is more sheltered from the weather. The creek course is still a great thinking round of golf, some huge greens with crazy undulations!

Thirteenth Beach - Beach
Along with my Dad and my brother I play the beach course a couple of times a year, and have done so for the past fives years or so. The course has balances the joys of a challenging course against the need for the course to be enjoyable for the higher handicappers. That said, on a windy day even single figure handicappers can have an ugly day. Greens, fairways, bunkers and layout are fabulous. Play in the morning if you can to avoid the worst of the weather.
