The South
Tasmania Golf Club
18 Holes
PAR 72
6200 M

Bounded by water on three sides, the spectacular Tasmania Golf Club course is set on the picturesque Barilla Bluff, where it has been since 1971.

Narrow tree-lined fairways are augmented by superb panoramic views with large rolling greens and strategically placed green-side bunkers.

The course was created by curator Ian Grimsey under the guidance of noted course architect, Mr. Al Howard.

The feature hole of the course is the par 5, 3rd hole.

From the championship markers it is awe inspiring and has been more than favourably compared to the notorious 18th hole at California’s Pebble Beach layout.

Very welcoming, allowed us to play socially during comp hours. The course itself was relatively good condition and the views are fantastic. The front nine is a very memorable nine holes given the numerous views of nearby water and surrounds. My favourite part of the course was definitely the large links style greens which were in good knick. Only negative would be the $75 green fees, especially given it’s seems to be the same green fee weekdays and weekend. Overall, still a course worth checking out of looking for golf in and around Hobart.

Very welcome to join in the Comp.Sat.morning.Fantastic variety on fairway & green. Loved playing with the members to see how particular they were about where to have all their shots give them the best approach on their following shot.Cant remember any flat holes:always some slope lots of doglegs.Greens so fast &true. Can hardly wait to play there again. Reminds me of Mt Gambier & Cape Schank courses.

Played March 2010 in beeeyutiful weather. Just one of those magnificent days. The course IS fantastic. Not overly long but the gap between fairway and reload is quite small so driving is a premium. Fantastically presented, the green can only be described as "magnificent" - honestly. There were all consistent, true and really well kept - top marks to the greens staff. There are brilliant views over the water and back up the 9th to the clubhouse is photo-worthy. Well worth the $$.

Played December 6 2009 in terrific weather conditions. After having played Launceston, Barnbougle, Royal Hobart and then this in successive days, and having read some average reviews, i wasn't expecting that much. But I thought Tasmania was an excellent golf course. I think changes of elevation are excellent in a golf course, make you think and adapt, and Tasmaina has plenty of those. Has some really interesting holes and some visual delights. I'm not sure if its worth the green fee ($99 plus cart, but you can play The Dunes for $45??) but is certainly worth the game if you can get over that.
