Golfing at Barnbougle Dunes is an unforgettable outdoors experience. The crashing surf of Bass Strait is visible from most holes, and audible from all. Few golf courses can boast such a variety of surrounding water bodies.

Barnbougle Dunes is flanked by Bass Strait, the Trent tidal estuary, freshwater tea-tree wetlands, and the Forester River, having meandered its way down from the distant peaks of Mt Maurice.

The Barnbougle Dunes Golf Links includes practice facilities, 15 villas and public clubhouse with cafe bar, pro shop, and restaurant/function room.

Played here this month and I can't fault the course and can see why it is the number one public access course in Australia. Beautiful fairways carved between the dunes and magnificent large greens. The sand traps are plentiful and some are huge and deep. Beware the tussock grass as if you stray off the fairway you will struggle to find your ball. I like the local rule that if your ball goes in the tussock grass and can't be found a new ball is played at the point of entry, with a one stroke penalty, to speed up play.

Played the Dunes 3x in 5 days. Absolutely beautiful course in great condition. The fairway and green undulation is just so interesting. Located near the beach we were fortunate to have no wind. Love the back 9 where you can see 4-5 holes around you.

8th Par 4 shouldn't be a par 4, it's almost impossible to make in 2. We played off the blacks on last day and was so hard.

My fave holes were - 4th Par 4, 6th Par 4, 13th Par 3, 15th Par 4.

Bring lots of ***** !!

Played on the morning of the 25th of March. You know how sometimes your expectations can never match reality, well in this case they not only matched but surpassed. Believe the hype, from the rustic entrance to the first sight of the dunes in the milky dawn light it is a bucket list experience that must be ticked. The first four holes have to be close to the best in Oz. The cavernous bunker on the fourth (which I found)  was particularly memorable. The short walk to the fifth along the beach is a photo opportunity, the devilishly short seventh and strong ninth round out a memorable front nine. Highlights on the back were the short par four twelfth, the crazy thirteenth with the green from **** and the tee on the sixteenth with its spectacular views of the course. Overall condition was great, staff and friendly.

Played 4th January 2015 on a very breezy morning. A truly great course with deep bunkers, deep rough and many undulations, swales and valleys in the fairways. Three greens (5,6 and 7) were in a bumpy condition due to the earlier mentioned wind damage, but the green fee was reduced to $89 to compensate and did not detract from what is a memorable golf experience. I played off the black tees, and despite being a long hitter found it difficult to reach the fairways with good straight drives on a few occasions into the wind. Hard to identify a standout hole, every one is an amazing links style hole. Tough little par 3'2, short and long par 4's. Impossible rough and apart from the three greens in great condition.

Played here on 13th December after a three year lapse since my last visit. BB Dunes is still an amazing piece of golfing architecture, there isn't much more they can do with this course, the 4th - 9th holes are so much fun especially that pesky little 7th. Greens on 4-6 holes were a bit shabby due to wind damage suffered in November, we still had to pay full price though which was a little disappointing, a small reduction of say $10 in the $109 green fee would have been welcomed. Still a very enjoyable day in prefect sunny & still conditions. I still favour BB Dunes over its little sister the Lost Farm.

awful condition.... the tees are appalling, the fairways less than average, and the greens 3rd rate. great layout as tho it`s designed by walt Disney. but for $100 you would expect the place to be up to scratch... it`s not!!! reminds me of those 9-hole courses in Scotland where you put the green fee in a box. very underwhelming. and then there`s the flies...........
