Great value course and there are a couple of testing holes to challenge. Some shots that stray may be result in a new ball but over not a bad day out.

Measures 2813m Par 35 with 18 tees and 9 greens, located close to one another, with 2 Par 3s ranging from 150-165m, 6 Par 4s ranging from 300-380m and lonely 460m Par 5 6th/15th with dam right on fairway bend, and another short left of green.

Greens are a little dead along the edges and are painfully slow, teebeds were relatively flat and fairways were a little thin. Dont expect too much, as it is run locally.

Little challenging 9-holer 70km west of Wynyard along A2 Bass Highway. Played here 19/7/06 and paid $10 green fees to an honesty box.

Played on Thurs 4 Jan 07.

Smithton GC is a standard Tassie 9-hole country course (every town in the state seems to have one) in the NW of the state. The course is a couple of minutes out of town (to the west). Green fees $12. Par 71 (35-36) but ACR 70.

The area usually has plenty of rain so there is only watering to tees and greens and the course is suffering overall. The fairways are brown and very dry, as is the rough and all other surrounds. The greens were very slow, maybe they like them that way, maybe they're watering them plenty so nothing goes wrong...

Only minor variation in the second set of tees, including adding an extra stroke second time around.

In current condition you're better off driving 20min down the road to Stanley and playing at that course as it's in much better shape.
