A very enjoyable course to play. enough variety to keep you on your toes and generally in pretty good conditions. The weeds growing in the bunkers was the only thing that struck me as being average for the appearance. Some very enjoyable holes, notably me the 1st, a little gem to start, 6th, 8th & 17th. As previous have stated the members and office bearers were very accommodating for our group of 8 that played in January 2017 adding to the relaxing atmosphere of the club.

Waited until all Riverland courses played before this review. If a good score is the pre-requisite for a good review then add half a star. If good company, add another half a star. How lucky to play with the Pres., two ex Pres., and the Captain over two rounds! Great little course. When the Couch/Kikuyu battle is over(soon they think) add another half star. Thanks Gary and slap Johnno for me will you. The Caravan Park attached to the course ($15 a night) is another plus. Should be the best in the Riverland by next summer. Played 1st and 4th Oct. The Relic.

Loxton measures 6079m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 136-189m, ten par 4s ranging from 308-395m and four par 5s ranging from 441-507m. Course has winter (rye) grass fairways with small bent grass greens which have good roll but are not fast. The rough is mostly dirt/sand with some weeds and trees which is playable once you pass through the wide tree-lined fairways. There are 15 bunkers on the course and there is no proshop at Loxton. One thing is for sure, having played all grass green country layouts in the state and the best of Adelaide's sandbelt, I can safely say, without bias, that despite its good country layout Loxton is not in the state's top 10 courses. Highlights include: the 136m downhill 2nd (index 17) with a bunker short; the 485m straight 3rd (index 7) with a left-sloping 2-tier green guarded by a bunker short right; the 496m slight dogleg right 6th (index 5) with OOB far right and tall pine trees both sides off the tee and on your 2nd shot approach to avoid with a bunkerless green; the 360m dogleg right 8th (index 3) with a blind teeshot over a crest; the 388m dogleg left 9th (index 1) with a pine tree-lined fairway to a bunkerless green; the short 339m slight dogleg left 14th (index 6) with 2 fairway bunkers off the tee and a greenside bunker short left; the 369m slight bend right 16th (index 4) with a right-sloping fairway and trees on the left to a green with 2 shortside bunkers; and the shortish 344m slight dogleg left 18th (index 8) with 2 shortside bunkers finishing in front of the small clubhouse. The front nine layout is more varied and challenging than the back nine. Only the front nine par 3s are bunkered, but overall there were more bunkers on the back nine than the front nine. Played here 2nd October 2011 with $20 green fees. Course access is from Edwards Road, about 10km north-east of Loxton, taking Alamein Avenue off the B55. Loxton is a Riverland town of around 4000 people about 15 minutes south of Berri. Worth a hit but every grass green course (Renmark, Berri, Barmera and even Waikerie) in the area are similar to each other. No Riverland course is overly challenging and neither stands out over the other.

While the fairways can be a little scratchy at times, the course is a delight to play. A great mix of holes from the very first where you only need hit iron from the tee on a very short par 4 to the long par 5 10th with OOB on the RHS ready to catch out a big slice (as it did on the 19th hole of a pennants match). Very sandy if you miss the fairway, there is always a chance of copping a terrible lie which can quickly result in a large score for the hole, but hitting on the fairway will see the possiblility of some good low numbers. The 9th is an interesting hole that dog-legs to the left. One where the corner can be cut if a driver is hit with a slight fade around the row of trees. And the green on the 18th with its large bunker protecting the front is always a pleasant way to finish the round, especially when the light hasn't faded to almost darkness as was the case for our first two rounds. A great little course, again well away from the hustle and bustle of traffic or the city. TandM

Good little track. Greens and fairways are good for a country town in the middle of a drought. Fairways are green and not too patchy. Miss the fairway though and you are in a mixture of dirt, sticks and leaves. Challenging for the mid range handicapper who hits the ball an average distance. If you go early though make sure you have correct change for the honesty box. Would go back again.
