Played here for nostalgic reasons today. I have now played 252 different golf courses & this course was my first, 42 years ago! Not much has changed, which is in fact a good thing, given that the town is shrinking in numbers, like so many other country towns. It is a fairly basic track, but it does have small grass greens, which a lot of country courses don't have. I especially remember as a kid, the short 112 metre 12th hole, which is exactly the same now. You have the choice of hitting a putter down a very narrow gap to the green, between copses of trees or shooting over the trees to a very small green. Very interesting hole! Worth going back just for that one. Overall, the course is nothing special but ok to play if your expectations aren't too high!

Measures 5513m Par 71 with three par 3s ranging from 112-190m, thirteen par 4s ranging from 224-394m and two par 5s ranging from 435-468m. Course has 17 tiny bent grass greens and 1 tiny couch grass green which are unsurprisingly slow. The greens are so small that if you happen to find your ball 8-10m from the pin, you are off the green! The fairways are a mixture of couch/kikuyu/winter rye grass. The layout is fairly flat with no significant hills with wide fairways and short tree-lined fairways with a few holes crossing over fairways to reach the next tee. There are only 3 bunkers on the course, guarding the 3rd and 17th greens. Highlights include: the 435m short Par 5 straight 3rd (index 14) with an OOB dirt road along the rightside to a green guarded by a bunker short left; the 360m slight dogleg right over a crest 8th (index 2) with short pine trees along the leftside to a bunkerless green; the 265m straight 9th (index 18) which plays gently downhill with a pond 5m over the back of the bunkerless green; the 388m straight 11th (index 1) which plays gently uphill; the 112m 12th (index 15) with a somewhat blind teeshot over a short cluster of 5m tall trees to reach the tiny front-sloping bunkerless green; the 342m 13th (index 5) which doglegs 90 degrees left from 200m off the tee with short trees on the dogleg left corner with the same pondage water hazard on the 9th hole coming into play about 20m short of the bunkerless green; and the 394m straight 18th (index 3) with same pondage water hazard on the 9th/11th holes coming into play 40-50m short on the right to a bunkerless green in front of the clubhouse. Some extremely short par 4s and a rather boring flat layout does not challenge the better golfers. Course conditioning is reasonable for a small country town of around 600 people. Played here 2nd October 2011 with $15 green fees. Course access is from Chandos Terrace near the centre of town.
