very nice course, greens are good in winter, fairways are good in summer, great value for money, public course so you get lots of hackers.

Measures 5526m Par 70 with five par 3s ranging from 112-142m, ten par 4s ranging from 260-391m and three par 5s ranging from 450-548m. This Council-owned tree-lined parkland style course has mostly kikuyu grass fairways. There are Santa Ana couch grass teebeds which are flat and, like the fairways, quite lush. The mostly medium sized bent/poa grass greens are sizable being mostly 20-30m long and have consistent roll, with the 14th & 15th consisting of A1 cobra bent grass greens. In terms of hazards, there are up to 3 ponds and a creek on the front nine. There are 3 unbunkered holes (at 1, 5 & 9) with a total of 32 bunkers on the course. Highlights include: the risk-reward 260m straight 2nd (index 16) with a red-stake pond right 200m off the tee to the rightside of 30m long green which is guarded by 4 bunkers; the 330m slight bend left 6th (index 6) with a creek along the leftside which cuts across the fairway about 40m short of the green which is guarded by 3 bunkers; the 379m slight bend right 7th (index 2) with the same creek along the far leftside rough off the tee and another creek cutting across the fairway about 250m off the tee to a green with a bunker along the leftside of the green; the 322m 11th (index 11) which doglegs 45 degrees right from 180m off the tee with 2 fairway bunkers right at the dogleg corner and OOB homes along the far right with red-staked ponds along the left from the dogleg corner to the green which has 2 rightside bunkers; the 126m 12th (index 17) with rear bunker and water over the back of the bunker and along the leftside of the green; and the monster 548m slight bend right 17th (index 3) which plays gently downhill to a green with a bunker 40m short right and another bunker short rightside of the green edge. Willunga is the shortest of the 7 layouts on the Fleurieu Peninsula (others being Fleurieu, Links Lady Bay, McCracken, South Lakes, Victor Harbor & Wirrina Cove). The par 3s are weakly bunkered and play similar with no par 3 longer than 142m in length. The par 5s gradually increase in length and challenge as you warm into your round with the pick being the 548m 17th (index 3). The course uses reclaimed effluent from the town to irrigate the course. The front nine features more water hazards and a double green at 3 & 8. The shorter back nine has some strange holes with 2 long walks from the 13th green to the 14th tee and again from the 14th green to the 15th tee but is more bunkered than the front nine. However, it seems for safety (and insurance) reasons, the club has closed a par 4 hole and made the 14th into a 133m Par 3 to protect the homes on the right. Course elevation is approximately 110-130m above sea level. Course access is from St Peters Terrace about 45 minutes (along the A13) from the Adelaide CBD. Played here on 3rd October 2012 off the back plates with $24 green fees 7 days a week. Willunga is one of SEVEN 18-hole grass green courses within the Fleurieu Peninsula area which has around 50000 people. Willunga has around 3000 people and is located about 45 minutes south of the Adelaide CBD and approximately 80-180m above sea level.

i've been playing at this course for about 2 years now. it is very well maintained, well grassed fairways & greens are excellent. it's a council owned course but is equal to any of the private courses within 20 km as far as course condition is concerned. it is a course that requires good accuracy to score well on & is a pleasure to play. holes have plenty of variety & certainly tough enough for good players but also playable enough for beginners. pro shop staff, groundstaff & bar staff are all very friendly & welcoming. do yourself a favour !!!!! play it.

This course on first glance is excellent, with a good layout and very good fairways. The course is well designed with plenty of penalties if you miss a fairway with many bunkers and water traps along with thick trees lining each hole. However the course lacks the quality of greens to make it worth the travel. Many of the greens are sandy and poorly grassed making some overly fast and others very slow.
