Without a doubt the most scenic golf course in Australia! Anyone that wants a tough challenge from the Hoop Pine back tees should play at least one round at the Hamilton Island Golf Club. Where else do you need to board two ferries to play a game of golf? Take a couple of sleeves of balls with you and your camera! If the par 3's don't get you just about every other hole will! Enjoy a meal and a couple of ice cold beers in the restaurant with the best views in Australia while the attentive staff make sure you have a day you won't forget.

We played the course last Monday 1st October 2012 and walked away vowing to return. The course was in great condition overall though some of the greens were a little "lumpy". Not sure if they had been recently cored but we had a couple of lagging putts deviate quite considerably. This was the only fault we could find however on a course that was very challenging, extremely picturesque and a joy to play. Wayward drives will be punished as the rough is very rough. We lost 27 balls between 3 players but after a couple of forays into the bush (against the Pro's snake advice) I managed to find at least 20 good quality balls without going too far into the bush. There are a few blind approach shots and I would suggest buying a course yardage book from the pro - you will use it and get to take home a souvenier as a bonus. The wind wasn't too bad the day we played thank goodness, this would be a bear of a course in a stiff breeze. All in all I would recommend a round here to anyone staying at Hamilton Island or nearby. Take the wife even if she doesn't play, she will love the scenery and a relaxing drink in the clubhouse afterwards where the staff are friendly and accommodating. As Arnie said - I'll be back!

I played this course last week the day before my wedding. The course is stunning the staff are friendly and accommodating. We were alone on the course or at least I think we were. The course overall was in perfect condition. If you don't hit straight you are in trouble and will go through a lot of balls. We were told by the course pro not to look to hard for our balls because of snakes, we sorta kinda didn't listen and found a bucket load to A grade balls. Overall the course is difficult but it was the most enjoyable golfing day I have ever had. By the way I went around in 92 and I was stoked!!

I played this course in August 2011. Surely it must be one of the world's most spectacular golf courses. You access the course by a 10 minute ferry ride from Hamilton Island and the club house sits atop a hill which gives great views out over the Whitsunday Passage. There are some tricky holes made even tougher by a stiff breeze which waits to push your ball off the fairway and into the coarse rough just off the fairway. I paid several penalties for lost balls, when tee shots hit the fairway and then rolled off the fairway into the rough. The most memorable holes are definitely on the back nine. The par 3 14th, with fierce winds and a long carry over native bushland is as tricky an iron shot as you'll find. The 15th is a great par four which runs downhill & into a stiff breeze, you'll be best hitting something which keeps low here. Another distraction, when I played this hole, was the pod of humpback whales passing through the passage. The par 4 18th, hitting down the hill & with views forever is a great closing hole. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, though it was one of the more challenging I have played.

The most amazing views I have witnessed from any Golf Course in Australia - and I would imagine it is up there with the most beautiful golf courses in the world. It is also one of the most challenging courses I have ever played as well. Although a relatively short championship course - it is designed in a way that makes it play a lot longer than what it actually is. The day I played (April 2010) the wind was up which made it extremely difficult and I lost a number of balls into the thick rough. I can see this course just getting better and better as it grows into itself over the coming months and years. Glad I got to play it before it has become too popular.
