Sunshine Coast
Maroochy River Golf Club
18 Holes
PAR 72
6441 M

Maroochy River Golf Club is the Sunshine Coast’s most prestige links golf course with a spectacular venue for weddings and functions.

Designed by Graham Marsh, the 18-hole par 72 layout is unique in that it is basically a links-style course, with wide fairways, few trees and lots of strategically placed bunkers. What makes it challenging is the water, which is a feature of almost every hole, and the wind. It’s a rare day that the wind does not affect play, but one important benefit is that it keeps golfers cool in even the warmest weather.

With the iconic Mt Coolum as a spectacular background, Maroochy River is an all-purpose golf complex, offering superb practice facilities, a well-stocked pro shop, a modern clubhouse with outstanding bar and bistro facilities, a function room capable of hosting weddings, conferences and dinners, and – most importantly – friendly staff who make every visitor feel welcome.

Played today, first time. Great experience from start to finish. Booked online and got a good rate with cart on a Sunday. Was not much traffic so could play at a reaonable pace. Course was in good condition although is tough! Especially not having played before, often hard to know where to aim your drive. However plays probably a little easier than it looks from the tee. Greens are firm and surrounds are tight so makes short game skills a must. Good interesting design with variation in ho

Not a happy vegemite. Welcome at the Pro Shop was good however went downhill from there. Course looks okay however fairways are rock hard and badly in need of rain. Irons barely scrape the surface. Greens won't hold lob wedges either due to the same hardness. Bunkers are of some sort of compacted sand and very unpleasant. Holes tend to look the same after a while - featureless terrain. Won't be back.

Loved it..

Whilst many would say it "it will be great when established", I would argue strongly that it already is and the open expanses mean you can take in the full beauty of the course.

This is a favourite after playing just once (couple of months ago). Great facilities and great course, no complaints.

Green fees for social golf need to be cheaper in my opinion, we had a discounted rate due to cored greens, but full price is getting up there.

I would definitely encourage you to give this course a try.

The Sunshine Coast’s latest golf course development, Maroochy River is a wide open expanse with very few trees and lots of water hazards. Mt Coolum looms on the horizon and from the clubhouse you can just about see every hole with this course being the only 18 hole links style course in the region. There are over 80 bunkers on the course and water or OOB looms on most tee shots. Holes of note include the shortish par 4 6th with a few fairway bunkers to catch anything hit too long off the tee and the par 4 18th with a left bending fairway and water to carry on your final approach to the only bunkerless green out there. The overall condition at Maroochy River is comparable to most other courses on the Sunshine Coast with great fairway surfaces and consistent greens. There have been some good specials for four players in carts particularly early on in its existence but lately prices have gone up a little and are pretty similar to most of the other public golfing options on the coast.
