Toowoomba Golf Club
18 Holes
PAR 72
5952 M

Toowoomba Golf Club or “Middle Ridge” boasts tall tree-lined kikuyu fairways and penncross bent greens.

Measuring a pitch shot under 6000 metres, the par-72 layout requires the ability to draw and fade off the tee to maximise the hole designs.

In summer, you will find the fairways and rough lush making the course play all of its distance. In the cooler months, the greens take on a new element of speed when the westerlies blow.

If you are above the hole then you will require a deft touch to two putt.

After the round enjoy a meal and a beverage from Ridges Bar & Bistro where you can sit on the deck overlooking the practice green and 18th hole.

Open to the public, Toowoomba Golf Club is a wonderful way to spend time amongst friends.

The green fees at Middle Ridge have been reduced to $20 for 18 holes due to the ongoing irrigation works throughout the course. There are a couple of temporary tee boxes and the 11th and 15th have temporary greens in play. Accuracy off the tee is imperative here with large imposing trees lining the many doglegged fairways and good shape into the greens is a must with lots of bunkering and overhanging branches testing your irons. The signature hole on the front is certainly the short par 3 7th. Measuring just 123m, birdie is a real opportunity but with a small picturesque pond guarding the front and left along with sand on the right, a 5 or a 6 can easily be pencilled in the scorecard. Two of the par 5's on the back are gettable in two but the 15th is a double dogleg par 5 measuring 512m with OOB looming down the left side of the fairway. The following hole measures 319m and features a sharp right dogleg and the most elevated green on the course. Anything hit long will likely end up 8 or 9 feet below the putting surface. A round at Middle Ridge will test your game but if you keep it straight you'll enjoy the interesting layout and the relaxing atmosphere on the edge of the Toowoomba range.

Played on the 20.5.13. What an absolute pleasure. Pro shop staff are some of the most friendly I've come across. With reciprocal green fees of $15 it makes for extremely affordable golf. Fairways were well grassed and the bent grass greens like carpet to putt on. They are very soft tho so you'll need a divot tool. CAnt wait to come back up the mountains to play this beauty again, may wait till it starts warming up a bit tho.

Played a comp day here and enjoyed the course. Nice grass on the fairways and the club looked well maintained. Pretty cheap too the day I played. One of the par fours had been cut down to a par three due to a neighbour getting golf balls in his house. Not sure how they'll get that worked out. Good luck.

Played here Dec 31, 2011 and really enjoyed the day. Enjoyed the mix of holes and just a different feel/look to the normal Brisbane courses I play. At $20 for a visitor to play the comp very cheap as well. Some bunkers were still water logged from the downpour the day before but all in all were in reasonable shape. A leaf blower wouldn't have gone astray at times on some of the greens. Greens were definitely slower than say Virginia, Oxley or Indro but again that's the fun of playing somewhere different. Walked the course and obviously much easier than City Golf Club with less ups & downs but still a test of your golf.

This is a very good Members course, with an interesting mix of holes. An easy walk with green fees of $40 being very reasonable for the quality supplied. There had been quite a lot of rain when we played there and the greens were good, but soft, so late in the day there were footprints and indentations to consider. The fairways were in excellent condition and there were a number of tight driving holes. The signature hole is probably the 7th, a short par three with a decorative lake between you and the green. An easy hole to par, but equally easy to make a big number if your tee shot is not right. Definitely on a par with most city courses and a must to play if you are in the area.
