Out of bounds, bunkers and water complicate factors on the closing hole of Jack Nicklaus' first course design in Australia.

Situated in the heart of Queensland’s Gold Coast, The Lakelands Golf Club was Jack Nickalus’ first signature designed course in Australia.

The highly regarded publication, the Australian Golf Course Guide, and its judging panel have voted the course as the best conditioned Australian public access course in four of the last five years.

Multiple tee positions makes this course user friendly and yet challenging, whatever the standard of golf you play. Nicklaus has used bunkering extensively in his strategic design and water features on many of the course’s 18 holes.

There is plenty of room for error however, especially from the tee, and as is typical of Nicklaus’ design work, much of the intrigue and strategy comes in the approach to each green.

Neat dress code is required with no denim or metal spikes permitted.

Full locker room facilities available. Limited individual and corporate memberships available.

Good course however could do with a little tidying up around the greens (closer cut to speed them up for starters). Course staff happy to wander around with blowers however couldn't rake the bunkers? Had a deal for two players in a cart for $150. The standard fee of $125 each isn't worth it by a wide margin. Surfers Paradise or Burleigh offer much better alternatives.

good challenging course. great layout lot's of bunkering and quite a few water holesunfortunately some of the greens were a bit furry and patchy +clubhouse has come into the years a bit not sure if I'd be happy to pay 100+ for the course in it's current condition where as if they put a bit more tlc into it might be restored to it's former glory

Make sure you ask before booking a tee time for junior rates and if the greens are being sanded down. Had to pay full price for my son. Most of the greens had a cm of sand in them. I also suggest not renting clubs there as the selection is poor at best. Staff did not appear to care that we paid over $200 for a poor experience. At least he could have informed us before we teed off that greens were under maintenance. Was really looking forward to this course as it came recommended.
