The Former Home Course of world NO.1 Jason Day & Adam Scott, QLD’s most challenging course.

The championship course at Kooralbyn Valley opened for play in October 1979 and in two years was chosen to host the 1981 Queensland Open a fitting tribute to the superb layout. The first golf resort built in Australia with Greg Norman as its tour professional at the time, it is now the golfing holiday destination for tens of thousands of keen golfers every year from Australia and overseas to thoroughly enjoy the challenge of the course like no others. Renowned Scottish designer, Desmond Muirhead said the landsite was one of the best he had worked with in all of the 80 courses he has designed around the world. Kooralbyn is Muirhead at his best. It is a masterpiece of design that has no conflict with nature.

Played 17 April. Course in great condition as good if not better than last we played prior to the course closing. The recent rains have done wonders, good true greens, nice fairways, polite and friendly staff. At $48 on iseek we will come back often.

Nice to see it back open but needs a lot of work. Played last week and Staff seem friendly but not very professional compared to normal resort courses. Greens struggling with heat, fairways very dry and tees barely any grass

Played Kooralbyn yesterday. Great layout, very difficult for a high handicapper. The course is still in need of a fair bit of work. Many of the greens were unplayable due to rough patches and gouges, the tees were ordinary and fairways hard despite a deluge the day before. The bunkers however were some of the best I've encountered (and I did encounter a lot of them) There was water everywhere, so much thought needed. This course would be amazing if they put a bit more work into it.

Hard course for normal level player. Fairways are rock hard and difficult to play good irons off. Most frustrating is lack of directions to tees. Also could use some bins around the course, and for the price, diagrams of where you are hitting to. played one hole where I thought I going left when the hole actually went sharp right.

Wow. What a magnificent golfing experience. My favourite hole was the downhill par 5 13th that swings left after the landing area and then right into the green with water near the lay up area and behind the green. The par 3 5th is the most spectacular with a massive drop from tee to green. BUT.........As much as I loved this course they have a very small market because it is way too hard. Even if there wasn't a tree in sight it would still be a tough course with all the forced carries and narrow fairways. But most of the tee shots and approaches have trees overhanging in the line of play. The friendly young man in the shop said they had already taken out a lot of trees but they really have to strip back a lot of trees. The second is already a narrow fairway with steep slopes on either said yet a tree left in front of the tee and right further up the fairway basically halve the width of the fairway. Anyone who hits a draw is aiming at the left hand rough on the third hole. I hit my drive 220m up the right hand side of the 10th fairway and from the rough had a 7 iron in my hand and had to be happy with the right hand apron of the green and a large green side bunker meant I couldn't run the ball in. The green staff placed the ladies tee on 14 to the far right hand side of the tee where an overhanging branch was right in line with the pin. There are comments on their website about the copperhead challenge and a recognition board of past winners on the course but you don't make money out of scratch markers. There just aren't enough of them.I really hope they make the course more playable and can keep it open because it has some magnificent landscapes.

Played Kooralbyn 30/7/16 for the first time in 15 years. The course still has the best layout every hole is a classic, the first 3 greens were a little rough but the rest of the holes were pretty good to putt on. With a little care the fairways will grow and the course will return to its former glory.Hop
