Legend Reborn

The former home course of world number 1 Jason Day and Adam Scott, Kooralbyn Valley is Queensland’s most challenging golf course.

The 18-hole championship golf course at Kooralbyn Valley opened for play in October 1979 and in two years was chosen to host the 1981 Queensland Open – a fitting tribute to its superb layout. Renowned Scottish designer, Desmond Muirhead, said the landsite was one of the best he had worked with in all of the 80 courses he has designed around the world. Kooralbyn is Muirhead at his best. It is a masterpiece of design that has no conflict with nature.

The front nine winds through natural valleys and watercourses, whilst the back nine flirts with 10 hectares of lakes in the valley basin. The wildlife is abundant, with hundreds of kangaroos feeding on a daily basis. After eight years in the wilderness during the global financial crisis, the course re-opened in 2016. Now with its multi-million dollar makeover, the course is set to impress the golfing world once again.

Played Kooralbyn Ekka holiday and it is the best ive seen/ played that course since the 90s .... we got 18 holes woth a GPS cart for $50 dollars..... best value in south east Queensland.... but i see they put the weekend rate up to $70 per person .... if this cousre and resort wants the golfing public to come play the best course in Queensland i recommend that they leave the weekend rate @ $50 and the word will get around

Played our annual Cup challenge over two days here in May '18....what a phenomenal golf layout. The greens are up there with the best in Qld and are fast, true and have suttle nuances.Course can be intimidating if you are not on your game and challenging if your are. Short hitters will struggle off the Championship markers and mistakes are severely penalising for those wayward drives.A great experience if you want to challenge your golf game and your mental aptitude, can't wait to go back!Good practice facilities and hopefully the hotel becomes fully functional with dinning and drinking options to lure more people to a truly great layout and golf experience.

The last time I played here would have been about 20 years ago. From what I was told I was expecting a course that needed some work. That was not the case, the course was in excellent condition and the greens ran true. From the moment we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. All the staff members were friendly and welcoming. We decided to play off the blue tees, and it was very challenging yet enjoyable. While we were having a great lunch after our round we were deciding if when we come back with our wives will we stay one night or two? Well done to Peter and the team in reviving this old treasure. Course was great, best Layout in Qld, but the course had booked a large group for a shotgun start at the same time we were playing.  This didn't show up on Iseekgolf.  I won't be using this website again.    Very long day

Played this course last year and I was interested to see if it had improved but was disappointed. The turf is still poor and they haven't removed any trees that I noticed. I really like the course and will play it again because I would like it to stay open. There are heaps of fun shots like the elevated tee on the long par 3 5th followed by the chasm on the next par 4 6th. I didn't expect it to look like Augusta in the space of a couple of years but thought there might be some change. Maybe the money is tight? Golf courses are expensive to maintain.  I definitely recommend going for a hit but keep the expectations in check.

Played 17 April. Course in great condition as good if not better than last we played prior to the course closing. The recent rains have done wonders, good true greens, nice fairways, polite and friendly staff. At $48 on iseek we will come back often.
