Tambo is one of the shorter par 72 tracks you’ll find in the Central West measuring just over 5800m. There are numerous seasonal water hazards out there but wide fairways with a few reachable par 5s and a couple of shortish par 4s should offer up some good scoring. The great feature of this often dry sand green course is the several grassed tee boxes with the 466m par 5 15th even lined by a neat lilly pilly hedge! There are also a few artificial turfed tee boxes which gives your clubs a bit more relief from the rough and firm ground which dominates the outback landscape. These important attributes wouldn’t have gone unnoticed as a field of 81 female golfers converged on Tambo Golf Club for the 2018 Queensland Women’s Sand Green Championships with the Men’s tournament being hosted in 2019. Notable holes include the 98m par 3 6th with OOB looming very close to the green, the 130m par 3 17th with a large dam to carry toward a sloping green and the 300m par 4 18th with two water hazards protecting the putting surface. The course is located about 4 kilometres out of town on the Alpha road with a small competition played on Sunday mornings in summer and teeing off at noon in the cooler months.

Had a lot of fun just having a quiet 9. Only played the back 9. Course is so dry as a result of current drought but is what I expected. Just take it for what it is and enjoy your round.
