WHAT A JOKE $500+ a year for membership and you don’t get
any flags on the green after 5pm when the course is open till 6.
The staff couldn’t of been any ruder or arrogant when asked
about it and our group was sworn at by the staff as they were
picking the flags halfway through our round up when we asked them
why. We were not told about this when we teed off and when we
asked about this they told us we didn’t need them to play.
Two of us were members but won’t be for long I WILL NEVER
PLAY THERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
I am a member at the Gladstone golf club and as courses go it is
pretty good for the lack of rain that we have had. It is a very
busy course so before joining look at the schedule of the course
or when you want to play it may be closed. As for the staff most
of them are pretty good but even members get treated like #%^#
every now and again but the older members of staff.
I would recommend the calliope golf course it is in excellent
condition, green, lush and they have about 20 buggies with
excellent service and always happy to help
Tannum sands is also very good
If you are in town and want to play golf if al else fails
gladstone isent to bad
I also played the Gladstone course recently and had a very
similar experience. the buggy went flat, rude staff (which is
usual for most people in this town) and the greens weren't
all that green with way too many divots. If you are stuck in the
gladstone region, consider the boyne tannum club.
I visited gladstone earlier this year and was greatly surprised
with the quality of the golf course it was exceptional for the
lack of rain that they had obviously had. I people on the drink
cart were most helpfull and very courtious, but the staff memebr
in the golf course has a lot to be desired i think he was the
club pro. He was very rude tomyself and playing partner. I loved
the course but will not return due to this kind of attitude. I am
sorry as i really enjoyed the course hats of to the green
Obviously they had a bad experience with our Club for which (as
an employee bar attendant) I apologise on behalf of our
Management and staff.
I will not attempt to explain locust's specific criticisms
about their visit in 2004 only to say that it appears they were
extremely unlucky to have their buggy break down.
As for the rude attitude of the lady in the Pro shop, that I
admit is totally unexcusable, but I am sure that if they were to
return in 2006 they would be welcomed in a friendly and
As a golf course I would rate Gladstone as a reasonable well
maintained lay out that is often described by visitors as "
two course in one" because the front and back nines contrast
We are however, heavily dependant upon water availability as we
have at present no substantial reserves of water.
Therefore, the condition of the course can vary greatly depending
upon the time of year.
The coarse itself is quite good. It was fairly dry when we played
but that is the case for most in the area due to no rain.
As for the the people in the pro shop, they were very rude. The
lady behind the counter didnt listen to us when payed. We asked
for 18 holes with a motorised buggy, we payed and went on our
way. 4 holes late the buggy went flat. After we finished the
18th, the guy that was now in the pro shop, tried to charge us
more for using the buggy for 18 holes instead of 9. Why would we
drive the first 9 holes then walk the last 9.
If your in the Gladstone area, there are a couple of other
coarses that are much more worth playing.
