Cardwell Golf Club is situated in the picturesque town of Cardwell, halfway between Cairns and Townsville. Located just a few hundred metres from the Bruce Highway and the beachfront, the course is surrounded by pine forest with the Great Dividing Range as the backdrop, making for a very scenic course.

Look out for the local wildlife- wallabies, red tailed black cockatoos, Cairns birdwing and Ulysses butterflies, kookaburras, sunbirds, goannas and many more native species.

Played the course for the first time since cyclone Yasi closed it. The course is longer than those we have played recently and the well grassed fairways were wide and friendly. The greens were smaller than I remember but were fast and truse. No bunkers and water hazards empty as they are in drought. At $20 for nine holes, for social golfers, puts this course 25% dearer than all courses we have played on this trip North. This means we only got to play once as it falls outside our pensioner budget.

This coures is well worth a visit. Played early one moring whilst on holidays from china. Some challenging par 3s, overall a great little course. No trolleys available so bring your own or do as we did , buy a cheapy from AMart sports and give them to the last little club that you play at.

A comfortable little nine holes, wide open fairways on the par fours and fives with a couple of tight par threes, lots of trees lining fairways with postage stamp greens, nice outlook. No fairway water but rain had them green, greens recently sanded so a bit slow. A credit to a small community.
