Richmond’s 9 hole par 72 sand scrape course measures over 5500m and is located on the flood plains of Queensland’s longest river, the Flinders. The layout opens up with a reachable par 5 at just 436m with an elevated grass tee in front of the clubhouse. That’s usually the last sight of grass for a while with mostly dry, dirt fairways lined by tall eucalypts. The 275m par 4 4th/13th plays closest to the OOB fence which runs down the left hand side with the oil green tucked in behind a gathering of trees. The final hole is an uphill par 4 measuring 324m with a generous fairway and an elevated green. Longer hitters will dominate the length of this course with mostly wide fairways, only a few hazard areas and the longest par 4 at just 346m. Overall, this course is well suited for a social nine and for the many tourists that come to Richmond to visit Australia’s premier marine fossil museum. $5 for a round of golf.
