Course currently in super condition. Fairways appear lush & unmarked with greens running true and quite speedy. Limited bunkers however the sand is great quality so you have no excuses. Only a couple of small niggles - some of the cart paths are too rutted and some signage hidden behind plants. Other than that, great value at $24 (Monday spec) for green fees + $35 for a cart for 18 holes.

Set amongst native coastal pines, some mangroves and even a few tall palms, Bargara’s par 72 course sits a block back from the ocean and minutes from the busy café strip. Bunkers protect all but three of the greens and water comes into play on several holes. The front nine seemingly plays tougher than the back with five bunkers surrounding the elevated green on the par 3 5th, the 516m par 5 6th (index 1) testing your accuracy with a mangrove hazard down the right and the 392m par 4 7th with a narrow fairway and sand on the right of the green. The two shortest par 4’s and the 415m par 5 12th are on the back and can help your score. In fact, Bargara has five par 4’s under 280m and if you can navigate around the bunkering than you should hope to grab a birdie or two! Although distance isn't an issue, you still need an accurate tee shot and most members would hit a medium iron off the tee and leave a lazy wedge into the green. This course should probably be a par 70 with at least one of the short par 4’s converted into a 200m or so par 3 and the short par 5 changing to a long par 4. The facilities here are first class and the putting surfaces are some of the fastest you could play on. It’s important to think your way around these greens with thick fluffy rough forcing you to lob the ball toward the pin. If there is little spin the ball will run on much further than anticipated. The Bundaberg Region and surrounding districts provide the holiday maker with plenty of golfing options and if you are chasing a relaxing round with coastal breezes and the sound of the ocean than Bargara is a great choice. Monday's special is $24 for 18 holes.

Played Bargara today in the Tuesday vets comp with my wife. Neither of us played at all well but we liked the course which is a parkland type layout in very good condition. The greens are true and quite tricky to pitch and chip to. My tip is that you're much better chipping from the front of the greens as opposed to the sides of back when you'll be a better than even chance of encountering an unforgiving slope. There's some short par 4s that are interesting an give the accurate driver a real chance. However if you're not accurate, be prepared for the consequences. The staff in the golf shop were helpful and sympathetic to our only "however" for the day. That being the two locals we played with who did not make us feel at all welcome. No further comment necessary as this is a course review not a people review.

Rather impressed with this course. Felt like another nine after eighteen, always a good sign. Not the back nine at the moment though, with three holes being improved and plenty of truck and tractor movement. Should be great when finished. Greens were just my speed, bunker sand spot on, a fair amount of width in the fairways and a good variety of holes. Stayed at a handy motel across the road and all up cost was good. The view from the clubhouse after is pretty speccy. Basic pro shop on course and club house across the road though means be prepared or travel back under the road. There is a booze bus.Well worth it.

Pro shop staff member very polite and helpful in ensuring my round was not slowed down by discussing where best to tee off from. Also apologised if some fairway lies were not up to it as they recently held the Holden Scramble with some golfers less than attentive to repairing divot marks. Apology not required as repair work appears to have been done and fairways are in excellent condition as are the greens. The layout is interesting with several doglegs and prior knowledge of the course would be an advantage in positioning on some holes. Signs showing way to next tee were well displayed and necessary for first time visitor. Played 18 holes walking in 3 and 1/4 hours despite waiting on 4 holes to play my next shot. Enjoyed the course and will play it again.
