PLEASE NOTE: From 30 Oct til 1 December greens will be undergoing renovations
Situated in Brisbane’s Western suburbs, Oxley Golf Club has for many years claimed, with some justification, that it has one of the best courses in the metropolitan area. Since the course opened in 1929, it has been remodelled on a few occasions, lengthen the course and build a new clubhouse.
The 6227m championship course represents a typically Australian style of course with its tall gum trees and bunkers throughout the layout. For example the 552m 5, 12th hole is one of the most talked about holes at Oxley – not only by the members but also by its many visitors. It is a long rolling hole which dog-legs left. Although the tee shot is important the second shot is critical. Achieve that and the approach using an 8, 9 or wedge shouldn’t cause too much heartache.
The 400m, 4, 15th is a hole that can make or break a good card or even cost you a tournament. The drive must be positioned on the left to middle of the fairway, leaving the second to an angled, extremely bunkered green a little easier. The danger is out of bounds behind the green for those who misread the weather conditions and become over anxious.
Oxley Golf Club also features a newly renovated clubhouse with facilities including a new 60 seat lounge, large dining room, a junior games room, large Pro Shop and a new spacious entry and foyer.
