COURSE DETAILS

The Lowood Golf Club is a 9 hole country golf course situated in the Brisbane Valley, approximately 25 minutes west of Ipswich.

The club was founded in 1962 and the course was designed by Tom Southcombe, an ex-professional golfer and was officially opened on 10 November 1963.

The clubhouse is open from 7am on Competition days, and on every other day, organise a game or two, , with our friendly Caretakers, Keith and Ann Nicolson.

So, come along, and enjoy a relaxing round of golf on our beautiful country course.

Course is in fair condition however its playing with a card length relief through the greens. Greens are in good nick and bunkers shallow but okay. Cart cost $30 for 18 holes and was awful (front end & steering knackered, brakes worked only periodically and the strap came loose so my bag flew off the back).

Clubhouse staff were disorganised. I got stuck behind Monday comp (no mention of this on their website event calendar) doing their 2nd nine. Took 2 hours 45 mins. Then played remaining 9 holes by myself in cart (done in 53 mins). Not happy and won't be back.

Do not waste your money. Green are bad and have been for two months , have never seen any bunkers raked unless you fix it after you were in one , tees not mowed and all this for $50 (greens and cart) per person . Also a group of  players in carts were playing and going to any hole . I caught them on one hole and asked if I could play through since I was one person and I was told that members have right way and continue to play in front of me. I will never go there again unless things improve

This golf course is in amazing condition with very good greens, also has a great mix of of long par 5's and challenging par 3's with a few water hazards, it is a 9 hole course with 18 different tee's. By far the best value for money course I have played. Has a great Thursday morning comp.

Lowood Golf Club has improved out of sight since the improvements were made a year or so ago and the new Greenkeeper started just before. The new par 3 number 5 and 14 are a real challenge. Great to see they now have 18 teeing spots.

It is nice to see a country course that is only 9 hole but with alternate tees for all holes. The 5th green has been replace with a new green with hold now a little bit shorter but with a bunker that requires a correct club selection. overall the course is in good condition and can provide a challenge for any golfer

Lowood's 6000m layout is reasonably open and pretty forgiving. It's not too difficult to recover from the trees and out of bounds really only comes into play on the par 3 5th. A couple of water hazards come into play on 1 and 2 but punish only the worst hit tee shots. Fairways are wide and encourage driver on most holes. The greens are medium sized and in fair condition. Most of the greens are guarded by sand traps which are probably the only form of punishment you'll receive if you misguide your approach. Lowood's par 72 course offers a variety of golfing challenges and peaceful farming surrounds make for a nice golfing day out. $20 for a round is good value.
