Darwin Icon,  golf course never looked better.A lot of work gone into it. Wacky Wednesday deal  is great $40 for 2  of us with a cart.

By far the worst course I've played in the world. Fairways are either long weeds/rough or sand/dirt. The greens have grass longer than the fairway or covered in sand. The groups that play at this course are usually in groups of well over 4 people and are completely drunk (although they have a course marshall, but all he does is drive around drinking a beer. I'd stay away and go to the other courses around Darwin which cost the same or less.

This is a short 9 hole course in Darwin, only a couple of km from CBD and near the Casino and Mindil Beach. The fairways and greens are watered and in reasonable condition, although the greens are slow and a bit bumpy. The layout is straight forward and most of the par 4 holes are short. The 4th is a par 5 with a very narrow landing area beside a canal and then trees block the shot to the green. There are a number of cement canals running through the course. The par 3s are reasonable in length and the 8th has trees between you and the green, so you need to hit it high to get over them or run it under. A course primarily aimed at casual golfers, but interesting enough. If you play 18 holes you play the same holes twice with no separate tees at all. It is easy to walk and can be played quickly unless there is a crowd there.

Situated a couple of kilometers from Darwin CBD, Darwin Gardens 2250m par 34 course is a great for beginners and a social hit. The course is maintained well and consists of a few 'cheap' middle holes where a straight tee shot will result is a short pitch and birdie opportunity. The par 5 4th is the most interesting hole on the course. A drain runs parallel to the fairway making it very narrow and two large trees block your second shot towards the green. Although the layout is fairly straight forward, the easy access makes for an enjoyable round for travellers passing through and locals for a hit after work. $22 for 18 holes is good value. Not suprisingly, it's very hot in summer so tee off at sunrise if possible.

Arrive in Darwin after 32,000k around Oz and get invited to a corporate/charity golf day at the Gardens. How good is this! The following is not written under the influence of the free refreshments that were available. Easy, easier, too easy. Shotgun start saw our group hit off the fifth. Short par four. Thought they were all short par fours. Nope, a couple of long par threes. By the time we hit the par five second I was relaxed and hit a screamer. Short par five. Course suitable for after work drink with mates, learners, or to build your confidence with a low score. Don't know how much green fees are - didn't have to pay. The Relic.

A fairly basic golf course. As suggested, it’s more for tourists. 18 holes can be played, but the back nine use the same greens as the front nine.

Located close to Mindil Beach, it’s a good place for a quick social round during the dry season before heading to the markets for a sunset dinner (Thursday or Sunday nights – Thursday is best).
