Played here for the first time a few days ago, in the middle of a very hot & dry summer. The tees are adequate only & the greens are way over watered to the point of being covered in moss & really spongy. Some selected fairways showed signs of being watered on green approaches but generally very dry. Preferred lies are used through the green. Having read that the course was fully watered, I was very disappointed with the condition. The course layout is fairly good, with an amazing par 3, 16th where you can barely see the green that you have to aim at due to the gum trees that you have to hit over. Would like to play this course again after some good rain.

Measures 5664m Par 71 with five par 3s ranging from 97-177m, nine par 4s ranging from 255-377m and four par 5s ranging from 455-504m. Course has an unusual country layout with the 9th green being the furthest point away from the clubhouse. The course has 7 holes on the clubhouse/town side of Billabong Creek and another 11 holes on the northern side of Billabong Creek. There are 18 rather small, slow, bumpy, dead patch ridden bent grass greens. The teebeds are dry and bumpy with many dirt patches and the fairways are bumpy with patches of kikuyu grass mixed with clumpy, weeds/grass and many dirt patches. The course has 11 bunkers with thick sand and even some grass growing in some! The opening 4 holes are fairly straight holes with the Newell Highway on the far right. Highlights include: the 306m slightly uphill dogleg right 4th (index 14) with a large fairway bunker way right generally out of play over the rough on the dogleg corner to a green guarded by 2 bunkers; the 372m slight dogleg right and uphill 8th (index 8) with a bunker short left; the 455m Par 5 straight 9th (index 6) with a left-sloping fairway with OOB Showground Road on the right to a green guarded by a bunker short right; the 177m slightly downhill 9th (index 3) with the Billabong Creek over the back and to the right of the bunkerless green; the 367m straight 14th (index 1) with Billabong Creek on both sides; the 255m 90 degree dogleg right 15th (index 15) with the creek on the dogleg corner only 150m to clear and the 504m slight dogleg right 18th (index 5) with Billabong Creek on your right to avoid on your approach to bunkerless green. Overall the course conditioning is not as good as nearby Berrigan and Finley but there are some good holes and it is only 55km north of the Murray River. With no full time green-keeper the course relies on volunteers for the course upkeep. Played here 4th September 2011 with $20 green fees and very friendly members. Jerilderie is a small southern Riverina town of around 800 people about 35km (or 20 minutes) north of Finley, 55km (or 30 minutes) west from Urana, 90km (or 1 hour) east of Deniliquin. The course is located on the eastern side of town on the way to Narrandera on the Newell Highway.

Great little course. Fully watered with an upgrade of the watering system in progress. The course has suffered badly in recent years due to a lack of water but at present it is in excellent condition. Not in the least easy. THe first 5 holes (4 par 4s and 1 par three) have a boundary fence on the right. Greens are small and relatively flat. THe hole rated #1 is the 14th, a par 4 with the Billabong creek running along the first 2/3 of the fairway ready to snare any wayward drives. The 16th hole "THe Naggas" is a short par 3 with no fairway. The men are required to hit their tee shot (9i SW)over a number of 15 metre high redgums. The ladies hit across a gully and open fairway to the green. If your travelling through the area and have the time. Call in and play a round. THe course is always available. Saturdays and Sundays join the comp at 12:00 noon.

While this course is DRY it still gives the average hacker a chance of a good score.

The secret on the first hole along the road is to stay inside the ropes so to speak. It’s easy to lob a ball from the first tee across the Newell into the garage. I know because I’ve done it!Left handers power draw. That said the course is easy walking with a few small undulations. Greens are small & fairly slow.Watch out for one of the best par 3s around. The 16th. A short 100 meters over the gums to a sloping green. The ladies get it easy with a straight shot from a different tee.

The 15th is an easy 6-7 iron off the tee to place yourself for a wedge or 9 iron to the green.Or. if you are in form try belting a 3 wood across the water. I’ve seen it done. Tried myself but got wet balls.

There is accomodation next to the coursemotel & caravan park.Poker machines in the clubhouse, chinese meals available.Good spot for a group to have a weekend away. The natives are friendly.
