Played here for the first time & was pleasantly surprised. This is a great country course in very good condition, especially for the size of the town. There is plenty of variety in the holes, with good doglegs, water, bunkering, lots of trees, good fairway grass & fairly fast greens. Generally a great layout, with a decent length of 5876 meters.

A nice Riverina club, BUT, not really suitable to the Average golfer.

It has Great, Excellent, Greens. It has Tough, Hard Par 3's.  It has a Good Design. The Fairways are average, and is not hilly.

The drawback is that the the Rough is not in the modern style. It is too long. It needs to be cut lower. It slows the game down  and is tough for the average golfer.

The Clubhouse has limited Bar hours and Meal hours.

Can overall rate this as a just 3 star course.

Measures 5817m Par 72 with five par 3s ranging from 127-216m, eight par 4s ranging from 286-387m and five par 5s ranging from 429-486m. Course has a little South African couch grass fairways with mostly natural couch fairways which were great to see in the Riverina. The bent grass greens were medium-large sized with good smooth consistent roll. The couch teebeds were smooth and flat. You may find some kikuyu grass mixed with couch under the trees and in the rough. There are 12 holes on the north-eastern (or clubhouse side) of Tarangle Creek with another 6 holes (12-17) on the south-western side of Tarangle and Aljoes Creeks. There are sprinkler heads on the fairways with distances on them which is great to see in the country. The course borders the Deniliquin State Forest to the east and is fenced off so there is no roo poo on the course! DGC has an unique location for a country course surrounded by forest, the Edward River and 2 creeks. Overall a very well-conditioned course with 37 bunkers with the 431m Par 5 straight 8th with an OOB fence on the right being the only bunkerless hole on the course. Highlights include: the 216m 2nd (index 2) with a teeshot over a pond to a green guarded by bunker short left and grassy mounds off the right edge; the 338m slight dogleg left 4th (index 8) with a pond 240-260m off the tee at the dogleg corner to a green guarded by 2 shortside bunkers; the 367m 6th (index 4) doglegs 75 degrees to the right around Tarangle Creek to a green with 2 rightside bunkers; the 359m straight 7th (index 6) with an OOB fence on the right and a pond 10-40m short right of the front-sloping green with 2 shortside bunkers; the 387m straight 10th (index 1) with OOB Memorial Drive on the far right with a large embankment dam far left to a green guarded by 3 bunkers; the 170m 11th (index 9) with OOB Tarangle Creek up to 40m short right then red stakes to the right edge of the green guarded by 3 bunkers; the 303m straight 16th (index 15) with 2 fairway bunkers 220m off the tee to a 25m long green guarded by 2 shortside bunkers and the 286m 17th (index 13) doglegs 90 degrees right from 170m off the tee over a creek in a gully to a 3-tier front sloping green guarded by 3 bunkers and OOB fence left of the leftside bunkers. Played here 4th September 2011 with $30 green fees. The par 3s are quite varied here and all are bunkered which is great with course access from the Memorial Park turnoff from End Street. Excluding the 486m straight 14th the par 5s are quite short and weak which I reached in 2 shots from the back plates. Some of the shorter par 4s gave you options off the tee to minimise a big score. If you respect the par 4s and look to attack the short par 5s and you will score well here. Deniliquin is the largest south-western Riverina town with around 8000 people on the southern banks of the Edward River at approximately 95m above sea level about 60km west of Finley (along the Riverina Hwy), 75km north of Echuca (via the Cobb Highway) and 90km south-west of Jerilderie (via Conargo). This is a very well conditioned course.

The front nine is a bit up & back - the odd water hazard jumping out, some narrow fairways between the gums. Once you get into the back 9 nine though it changes a little - you've got to pick your spots off the tee a bit more carefully. Be prepared too - if you play in summer you'll melt, the lazy north wind goes straight through you and the sun will turn your beer warm very quickly!!
