East 1-18
Played Thursday 11/6 and Sunday 14/6 in the comps. Circumstances meant the same 18 each time, the 'new' nine then the back "old' nine. Fairways are carpet soft all the way, even when the colour changes from green to brown. Greens are quite quick and feel just right to me. Bunkers, however, are fairly hard under a light dusting of sand. Trick is not to go in them. Clever pin placement, snarly old trees in the way, severe dog legs and sneaky little dams made for interest on most holes. Long hitters will find them all reachable but accuracy is paramount. One par three green is 66m front to back! That's variety! Was told the old nine I missed is shorter but tighter. More trees. At $40 odd, depending on week day/end or event etc. Corowa is not to be missed. Plush clubhouse with a good restaurant is a bonus. Close to town yet still on the Murray , all pluses. The Relic.

Amazing course played the west course which is 1-9 then 19-27.The front 9 is a little more open than the back 9 which is quite tight. The course surprised me with excellent couch tees and some big tee areas.Fairways also covered with couch and lush fairways to hit from and nice run as well. Bunkers well looked after and cared for.Greens are bent and superb .Greens are true and a little quick but best greens I've ever been on. For a country course your tee shot is the secret to your score and if your straight you will be rewarded. I've been playing over 30 years and beside your resort courses this is one of the best I've played. coxy65.

East 1-18
The East Course (Holes 1-18) measures 6488m Par 73 with four par 3s ranging from 137-219m, nine par 4s ranging from 329-402m and five par 5s ranging from 442-526m. Corowa was established in 1903 and since its move to its current location in the 1950s it has expanded to 27 holes. Corowa Golf Club consists of 3 layouts: the longest layout is the East Course (Holes 1-18) measures 6488m Par 73; the shortest layout is the Old Course (holes 10-27) measures 6021m Par 72; and the West Course (holes 19-9) measures 6327m Par 73. On the entire 27-hole layout there are a total of 73 bunkers. The previous reviews have raised some good issues with the vast space of holes 1-9 and some of its design layout flaws. However, Corowa's East Course layout is the longest layout along the Murray and north-eastern Victoria with numerous bunkers. Like holes 19-27, the East Course has a mixture of Santa Ana couch grass fairways and teebeds. There is one worn out ryegrass teebed at 12. There is a mixture of winter ryegrass/Santa Ana couch grass in the rough and green surrounds with the winter ryegrass being more dominant in the cooler months. The 20-30m long medium-to-large sized bentgrass greens are fairly smooth with good roll. In terms of hazards, there are 2 large storage ponds/dams along the 1st & 8th (and a small pond along the left rough of the 7th) with only 1 bunkerless hole (at 16) and a total of 51 bunkers on the East Course layout. An odd feature at Corowa is that some fairway bunkers are in the rough of adjoining holes and are not necessarily in play for the holes you are playing. Holes 1-9 was opened in September 1980 and measures 3397m Par 37 with the one par 3 at the 137m-4th, six par 4s ranging from 329-402m and two par 5s ranging from 509-526m. There are 28 bunkers. Highlights include: the 402m 2nd (index 2) which doglegs 45 degrees left from 220m off the tee with a large red-stake dam along the left effectively ensuring you do not choose to cut the corner to this green with 2 frontside bunkers; the 355m 3rd (index 15) which doglegs 90 degrees left from 220m off the tee with 2 fairway bunkers at the dogleg corner left to a green with 2 bunkers however, there is the annoyance of the power lines to avoid at the dogleg corner; the 137m slightly uphill 4th (index 18) to the longest green on the course at around 40m in length and 15m wide and is guarded by 2 deep shortside bunkers; and the 372m slight bend left 7th (index 6) with an elevated tee and a small red-staked pond in the left rough 220m off the tee to a 2-tier front-sloping green with 2 bunkers. The front nine is the most bunkered and longest layout at Corowa. The large storage dam along the 526m long 8th hole is virtually empty and is a recent addition which will be used as an overflow storage dam from the dam on the 1st hole. The bunker-green complex is quite challenging with larger greens a feature on this outward nine holes with many flags not visible from the teebed. Holes 10-18 is part of the original 18-hole layout and measures 3091m Par 36 with three par 3s ranging from 137-219m, three par 4s ranging from 352-396m and three par 5s ranging from 442-516m. There are 23 bunkers. Highlights include: the 352m straight 10th (index 9) with an elevated teebed above the fairway (between the clubhouse and the motel) with the OOB Murray River banks along the far left rough to a smaller green guarded by 2 bunkers right; the 137m signature 12th hole (index 16) with the Murray River along the far left to a green guarded by 4 frontside bunkers; the 219m long par 3 16th (index 5) to a 20m long front-sloping green which is the only bunkerless hole on the 27-hole layout at Corowa; the 376m slight bend left 17th (index 1) with a fairway bunker 220m off the tee on the dogleg left bend to a narrow green guarded by 2 bunkers; and the 151m 18th (index 14) to a green guarded by 4 bunkers underneath the clubhouse. The back nine is older with more mature and taller eucalypt tree-lined fairways and arguably boast the more challenging nine-holes at Corowa. Played (and walked all 27 holes in 4.5 hours) on 10th August 2012 with $53 green fees to play 27 holes or $35 green fees for 18 holes. As mentioned there is a good clubhouse and decent practice facilities including a practice fairway, chipping green and putting green. Corowa and the Victorian town of Wahgunyah has a population of around 6500 people and is approximately 145m above sea level. Course access is 5km south of the town centre and is found following Hume Street for approximately 3km. Given the flat terrain Corowa has, it is architecturally difficult to design 27 exciting golf holes, but I feel the course conditioning here is impressive. Corowa still remains one of the better public access layouts along the Murray and north-eastern Victoria.

Holes 19-27 is part of the original 18-hole layout and measures 2930m Par 36 with two par 3s ranging from 159-168m, five par 4s ranging from 250-423m and two par 5s ranging from 444-475m. There are 22 bunkers and it still is the shortest and easiest 9-hole layout at Corowa. Like holes 1-18, holes 19-27 has a mixture of Santa Ana couch grass fairways and teebeds which are both slightly worn out more so than holes 1-18. There are 2 winter rye-grass teebeds at 24 & 25. Generally, there are some smaller bentgrass greens here (at 19,21,22,27) when compared to the greens on holes 1-18. However, there are some medium-sized 20-30m long bentgrass greens at 20 & 26. Generally, there are taller trees and some narrower tree-lined fairways on this side of the course. Corowa was established in 1903 and since its move to its current location in the 1950s it has expanded to 27 holes. 19th-444m straight Par 5 with the flag visible from the elevated teebed in front of the proshop with a greenside bunker short. The narrow driving area between the tree-lined fairway is unique to the other holes where you have a wider driving area. 20th-423m slight bend left Par 4 with 2 fairway bunkers in the right rough off the tee (shared with the 26th) with a bunker short right. 21st-159m is a good short hole to medium-sized green guarded by 3 bunkers. 22nd-309m is a slight bend left short par 4 with a fairway bunker left around 200m off the tee to a small green guarded by 2 frontside bunkers. 23rd-250m straight Par 4 with a marshy swamp and OOB down the left, and for those who wish to drive the 30m-wide green is guarded by 3 frontside bunkers. Quite an easy par 4 here. 24th-355m straight hole with the flag visible from the elevated teebed near the tennis courts with a fairway bunker on the left off the tee to a green with 2 rightside bunkers. 25th-347m slight bend left hole to a green with 2 bunkers. 26th 475m straight hole with the flag visible from the tee with a bunker 30m short right of the green guarded by another 2 bunkers. 27th-168m is fairly challenging closing hole to a small green guarded by 1 bunker short right. Slightly less bunkered than the other two 9-hole layouts but holes 19-27 is the shortest 9-hole layout at Corowa. The consecutive par 4s from 22-25 are fairly short and unchallenging. The par 3s are reasonably testing and probably the most challenging aspect of this layout. Played (and walked all 27 holes in 4.5 hours) on 10th August 2012 with $53 green fees to play 27 holes or $35 green fees for 18 holes. As mentioned there is a good clubhouse and decent practice facilities. On the entire 27-hole layout there are a total of 73 bunkers. Corowa and the Victorian town of Wahgunyah has a population of around 6500 people.

Thought the course was in great condition. Greens very quick, probably a bit hard. Right angle holes added some interest, nice to play holes where you get to think, not just stand up and hit straight at the green.
