COURSE DETAILS

Cobram Barooga Golf Resort is located on the Victoria-NSW border and has two championship-standard golf courses. The Old Course is not long by modern standards, however the clever design and narrow fairways provide a good test of skill to any player. The West Course has wider fairways and larger greens, with more slopes than the old course. The West Course is also slightly longer than the Old Course.

Apart from two great courses, the Club House offers numerous social activities. Sample the bars or fine dining in The Golf Club Bistro, and take advantage of the fantastic weather by dining inside or out.

You can also relax down by the famous Murray River. You might like to walk a bush track, throw a line in the river, go skiing, or just relax on one of the lovely beaches.

The modern West Course is a superb contrast, with wide sweeping fairways, strategically placed bunkers, occasional water to add a splash of variety and undulating large greens, all combine to form a fabulous landscape of golfing pleasure.

The West Course has an equally challenging design as the East course and is framed beautifully by lofty river red-gum eucalypts. It has a contrasting and yet spectacular character of its own providing golfers with a refreshing choice.

An added emphasis on water hazards and tending to be more open and sweeping, the West Course also features large inspirational greens, creative bunkering, and stimulating undulations. The greens are delightfully maintained and presented – an absolute pleasure to play on.

The famous Old Course is a traditional work of art where magnificent fairways are framed by majestic redgum and pine trees, with fast and true greens providing a great finishing touch.

A group of us played here in early May.We played the 1st 9 holes of the West and was impressed with tee to green conditioning.Good investment and a change of greens staff in this facility recently has improved the course and club.improvements to the west course would be contouring, drainage and restoration of bunkers which could see it catch up to its older brother.

Old Course

What a shame you lost some of those pine trees.!!

Sadly taken a bit of character out of the layout.

Still a most enjoyable course that has a sandbelt feel. Course in immaculate shape marginally better than West.

Love that 1st hole !! Possible 2 or a 5 ??

Some minor tweaks and improvements to greenside bunkering and possible addition of a few fairway bunkers where the pines were could add a little more strategic element to the course.

Actually got reviews around the wrong way. Played East 9/7/15 and West 14/7/15. Generally not much between them. West fairways are patchy in places. Preferred the Old layout. Take half a star from review on West. Still a good days golf either way. The Relic.

Played Thursday comp. 9/7/15. Hearsay that this course had A - gone downhill, B - improved recently so did not know what to expect. Fact is it's in pretty good nick. Fairways mostly well grassed and soft. Only two or three suffered from the winter frosts. Greens a tad slower than other Murray courses but still good. One or two interesting doglegs and a couple of long toughies. Par four first is only slightly shorter than two of the par threes (from the back markers) and is a call up hole. Bunkers same type of sand(?) as the others in the area. Pin placement on this day was tough and with the tee markers right back playing to handicap was happy days. Top clubhouse and pro shop and friendly members. Meals Wed to Sun. Around $30 for a comp round. Plenty of Motel and caravan accommodation right on the course. Cobram just over the River. The Relic.

Played 11th January 2014. 8th and 13th greens undergoing renovation, so one temporary green and the 19th green in play with a few other changes to the layout as a result. Fairways are in great condition and when the renovations are finished this will again be a nice course. Most greens in play were OK, only one (the 2nd) was in what I would consider to be poor condition. Clubhouse has been renovated in the past few years and is a nice place to relax after the round. Many nice holes on this course.
