Was really looking forward to playing here as ive heard good things about this "hidden gem". Hardly used driver didnt need to, due to the wide landing areas on fairways. Greens were up there with the best in australia that ive played on!, although some small in square footage (golf greens 9, 12,13,15) However, bunkers were tough to play out and get out of probably 2nd worst ive witnessed in all my golfing experiences throughout australia. Ground staff were incredibly rude from not acknowledging golfers to deliberately driving in front of golfers with hoses or mowers, using blowers too close to golfers, swearing out loud to each other and making the experience unforgettable. Will play again soon hopefully with a better atmosphere.

A year since my last review and i would say the course has improved further. The immaculate conditions, fast greens and picturesque layout make it a top Sydney course. However, the course is shortish and tight, and in bad weather the kikuyu gets very bogged. With small well bunkered greens create a emphasis on short game. Driving is also critical as tree lined fairways often force you to take the safe way back, making it hard to par. Some holes, in particular the par 5's, could be considered weak. The par 5 3rd, par 5 12th are both easy holes. On the other hand, the course has some great and challenging holes, my favorites the 1st 5th, 6th, 9th,10th, 15th, 17th and signature 18th, a beautiful hole back up the hill to the clubhouse. Membership is expensive but it is a lovely course, certainly challenging, and a great team of pro's and lovely clubhouse make this a top place to play golf.

Measures 5924m Par 71 with five par 3s ranging from 134-188m, nine par 4s ranging from 286-400m and four par 5s ranging from 420-515m. The tree-lined layout with some notable hills has 61 bunkers on the course. Course is well-maintained from its wide lush kikuyu grass fairways, to its small-to-medium sized bent greens which plays true but not overly fast, and has very good lush flat couch teebeds. As you'd expect there are no bad lies out there. Highlights include: the 372m uphill 2nd (rated index 3) with a bunker right and OOB Copeland Road far right, the 466m slight dogleg right 3rd (index 15) with fairway bunkers left and right tall trees right with an extremely high fence protecting vehciles driving down the busy Pennant Hills Road on the far right and with a moderate uphill rise to a green with bunker over the back, the 188m slight uphill 6th (index 5) with 4 bunkers to avoid and a large slope right of the bunkers, the 381m uphill 10th (index 2) is a bunkerless hole, the short 286m 15th (index 16) plays uphill with 7 bunkers and thick tall trees left and right to avoid, the signature 167m uphill 18th with 6 bunkers to avoid is an interesting finishing hole with the green sloping from the rear to front - take aim for the clubhouse clock. The par 3s here are the most interesting and challenging part of this course, whilst the par 5s were generally weak. Played here 4/1/2011 with $90 competition fees booked through golflink.com.au. You don't necessarily have to hit the ball straight here as the fairway landing areas are quite wide. The course is well-maintained, though I feel it is overpriced for membership. Overall, having played here a few times now I don't think Pennant Hills is not a very challenging group 1 course and Australian Golf Digest agrees by not rating Pennant Hills amongst the top courses in Sydney.

Well groomed course that has excellent greens and many hills and swales that require precision and require a lot of different shots to be made. The small quick greens mean you'll be making many shots around the greens, and its often better to putt of the green as the slopes are punishing. The course plays tight on many holes and shorter than most grade 1 courses, but pays back with slippery thick rough and numerous bunkers. The club is a private members club and public are invited to play only as a members guest. The club isn't really interested in the public playing and for that reason is not commended as much as it should be. In the winter the course can get quite boggy. There is no water on the course but a gully comes into play on four holes. Three highways run around the course. Pennant hills certainly deserves recognition in the top 15 course in sydney and Australia's top 75, even if the club could have tried harder to get more recognition. Very nice clubhouse and well stocked pro shop with excellent staff.

Loved it - Some great signature holes. Does play short at times, but there are other quirks which make it med/hard at times. Good test of golf - you must be able to play a variety of shots to get around here under your handicap
