COURSE DETAILS

Situated between the Hume Highway and the Georges River in Sydney’s west, the Liverpool Golf Club has an interesting and challenging course which is well timbered, with water coming into play on 13 holes and over 65 strategically placed bunkers to test the golfer’s skill.

A par 72, rated at 73, the 6266 metre layout can be shortened by well placed tee shots, but with an amateur record of only 68 (67 for the professionals) and having hosted the 1987 Australian PGA Championship, the 1994 NSW Amateur Championship and the 1987 and 1988 Jack Newton aged Championships, golfers will realise that it is not a course to be trifled with.

OK, its been stinking hot for at least the last two months, and the area has seen, at best, one day of rain, and while the course looks dry, the grass is still very good to hit off and the greens and surrounds are as good as ever. While all around are turning into a dust bowl (Georges River etc) Liverpool is still a great course to play.

Fantastic championship course. Challenging layout, good tee shots required on most holes and there's plenty of water. Very fast greens. Long par 3's (shortest is 140m). Score to your handicap here and you're doing well.

Played here a couple of times in their open comp with a group of members. Tees where in good condition, greens were perfect and fast, fairways were good, rough was forgiving, bunkers were deep but hard (ball doesn't bury into sand). The course layout was challenging (3x 390m+ par 4's), shortest of 4 par 3's was 145m. Water in play on most of the holes, but there is always a safe option to avoid a donation. The ACR was 73 on a par 72. But the speed of play was terrible, 5 1/2 hours. By the last few holes the sun really took its toll. And the members are an unfriendly, rude lot. Mounties is currently in negotiation to buy this club too (like they did to Campbelltown GC), that should bring some new fresh blood into the members pool, and some much needed improvement on the dated clubhouse and garden areas. Overall, good golfing, but a long day. Bring your own group.

Great course with well manicured fairways, greens and water features. The bunkering design is really good however they need more maintenance around the edges with some of them collapsing slightly and needing a little more sand. Having said that for the green fees paid excellent value ($80 for two with cart midweek). It wouldn't take much to get this course to international standard. Excellent.

Teed off at 1230 on 21 Dec 2010 after having played Bankstown in the a.m. At $32, this was a more reasonable price for a tough course. Not overly long but difficult. The greens were hard and fast - probably could have used some water. The fairways were in good condition and many were tree lined, but the rough was fairly well kept and clear of debris - but don't go there as high scores will result. Reasonably flat for walkers with a fair bit of shade and bubblers. However, you might get hassled if you want to fill your water bottle with ice water in the club house.
