I played here yesterday, and as usual, getting a game was easy, and the staff were friendly,  and while the fairways were good (the coverage has been thin and patchy at times), the greens were a real worry. A lot of greens had large bare areas on them which made chipping and putting difficult, and I feel it will take a while before they come good again. A pity, but I won't be back until the greens show improvement. lets hope it's soon.

I played the course on Sat morning and cant believe how much it has improved since I last played 12 months ago - the greens were as good as any I have played in Sydney! Great value as visitors can play Sat and Sun mornings too which is rare in Sydney.

Found myself in the neighbourhood of Georges River and jumped at the chance to play this great 18 hole course. Easy access and great rates.  The new owners are doing a lot of work to tidy up the fairways and the course is in good condition.  Tree lined fairways and  greens in good condition - a great way to spend the morning!  I'll be back!

Played here on Saturday 5th October. Course was in pretty good condition, although I found the greens a little slow, but other then that I couldn't fault the place. Great public course with 4 Par 5's and 8 par 4's. Hard to find public courses in Sydney that have a bit of distance to them. Driving range adjacent to the course is pretty terrible, but the course itself makes up for it in spades (had to wait to tee off because of the Saturday morning comp). Great value for money course, and a rare opportunity to get the driver out a few times and practice some distance hitting. Some tricky holes due to overhanging trees requiring some precision chipping, and some rather unorthodox shots. Would definitely play here again.

Big contrast in opinions I would agree. If you have not played the course "in a long time" I would suggest you get down and see what an improvement it is from the "Riverwood GC" days. I live locally and have played the course on and off for the past 15 years, and it is a complete transformation. I have played it quite a lot this year. Granted, I too have also played in rounds around the 5 hour mark which is completely unacceptable. luckily this is the exception not the rule. However the pro does need to stop letting more traffic on than the course can handle. Can be extremely frustrating. I played in a comp recently and they let on complete hackers or "brogans" before the last groups had made the turn. UNACCEPTABLE. You do have to keep in mind this is a public course. It doesn't pretend to be anything else. Hackers are welcome, so they should be, AFTER the last group in the comp makes the turn. I can only assume the below post was played close to the greens being cored, as they are quite true in my opinion. Fairways are also very good, especially to what they have been historically. THE COURSE DOES NOT DRAIN WELL. It can take a long time to recover after the rain. Too much traffic only compounds this. You do have token this in ind and avoid after rain. All things considered, I suggest you play if for yourself, hopefully on a quieter day. I have no doubt you will be surprised on the improvements. I cant see how Auburn is any less flat, and is much more straight up and down and "boring" in my opinion - and generally just as much traffic. I play there regularly also in social clubs. Can take up to 5 hours. In the end they are both public courses. I enjoy both, but prefer Georges River. Could be managed much better. Course condition seems to be improving constantly.

how could here be such a complete opposite from the last two reviews, I haven't been back there for a long time and dont plan on it . "HUH" , crowds, general public thrown in with members, crap conditions. Sounds like the the place hasn't changed at all
