A beautifully conditioned course, it really looks the goods. Big advantages for those who are long off the tee, as well as those whose short game allows them to get pretty close to the pin because the greens are pretty lumpy. It also feels like a really long walk, but I think that's probably driven by the fact that most of the holes are either uphill or downhill, so you really notice it. All in all, a very, very good course and one I'd like to have another few looks at.

Back to CHGC for the first time in a decade. Wet conditions meant no run on fairways, which were in good condition considering recent and current weather. Greens were very good as expected, but I'm always disappointed to find many pitch marks untouched on a members course. The layout and landscaping has changed greatly and adds variation and enjoyment. I remember many of the par 4s were same same, not so much now. The 18th is impossible, if there is no run as we found it - 3 shots to the green didn't happen for any of our group. Good day out, will return.

Keep in mind i played castle hill on 8 Jan 2013, the 43 degree heatwave in sydney and had a shocker so my review my irk to the negative but i wasn't as impressed with castle hill than i thought i would be with a group 1 course with a good reputation. Castle Hill has many good holes and the strength of the course lies in its magnificent bunkering- the bunkers are classic and the sand perfect. It's greens were in stark difference to when i first played there- they were soft but smooth and holding up well in the swelter. Best holes- all the par 3's (2, 4, 11, 17) particularly 2 and the back nine holes are difficult and long. 6, 12, 13, 14, are charming par 4's I did however find many holes to be lacking in character and if it wasn't for the bunkering and strength of par 3's the course would be bland. The fairways conditions weren't up to the scratch that some of its neighbours; pennant hills, avondale sport better fairways and a more riveting round, but perhaps less of a challenge. also really slow

I am working my way through the various "A" grade courses in Sydney but this is the best I have played to date. Good layout and a nice variety of holes which will test every club in the bag. Some picturesque holes, especially on the back nine and nice and peaceful - birdsong is the only distraction on this course. If that isn't enough, then get yourself a roast pork roll with gravy at the half-way house. Best on ground. All in all, highly recommended if you can get on.

Since the new irrigation system has settled in, and with some new tee placements, the course is playing really well. More attention has been paid to the condition of the greens, and the fairways are even better than they were before the new irrigation. Whilst some of the holes do have nice open mouths off the tee, they often suck you in to making a mistake by putting your ball into the very well placed water and sand. The pro-shop staff are great, and nothing is too much to ask. I like this course more than any other in Sydney.

Castle Hill Golf Club is situated in the north western suburbs of Sydney. The course is mostly very wide off the tee and the greens are huge with lots of slope to them. There are lots of good holes in the layout. The main ones being the 2nd - 181m downhill par 3 with water left and green side bunkers right and the 11th - 170m par 3 with water right and huge green side bunker left and a smaller bunker right. The signature hole on the course is the 18th - 500m par 5 with double water carry. Off the tee the carry is only about 110m, however the carry for the second shot can range from 60m to 260m depending on how long the tee shot is and how far right you went off the tee. I am a member of Castle Hill and can tell you that a member once had 23 on this hole in a monthly medal a few years ago. The hole is relatively simple if you stay left off the tee though.
