Set atop ocean cliffs, it’s not hard to see why the 3rd hole at Narooma Golf Club is one of the most spectacular holes in New South Wales, if not Australia.

If you are after a golf course with 1,000,000 views this is the course for you. If you are after a golf course that is well managed, with good greens and good coverage on the fairways, this course is not for you. Narooma is looking very tired. Like an 1980's retro version of a golf course. The greens are extremely lumpy and bare in patches. Walked off this course after 12 holes after 4 hours. We had a group of 4 members in front of us that just refused to let a group of 2 play through. Their reason when asked - we are members here and have the right to play as slow as we want. This course over-rated and certainly not worth $50 a round. Spend you money at Moruya and/or Catalina - much better courses and much better value for money.

Just the most magnificent scenic golf course I've seen. Almost every hole is an adventure. Cliff top holes that are buffeted by the changing ocean winds, (The 3rd, Hogans hole can be a Sand Iron if the wind is behind you or need a well hit 3 iron if it's into your face)or much calmer conditions on the back 9 which is carved into beautiful forests & natural lakes. Plenty of dog legs, elevated teas, tricky short par 4s and a finishing hole (par 5) that will make you want to hit the best approach shot that you could dream of. Worth every minute of the 9 hour drive from Melbourne. And you can catch plenty of fish & eat in some of the best country restaurants I've been to.

If you have a mate who has mastered the basics of golf - take them to Narooma. They WILL be hooked on golf for life. It has everything. Coastal cliff links, whales waltzing past...and just when you think you have survived the ocean gets tough !!! 7th plummets down down down and then off iinto the forest. The 11th a par 5 gets your heart racing...down, down, down,,,hard left Clyde...not that hard ,,,swap :(( 13th - smash a great drive up the middle over the hill,,,ooops a dam. Best test of any course is scoring millions but having a BLAST doing it. 18th par five - second shot - cut the corner out over the magumba - bye bye another ball - time for a beer.

Measures 5941m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 129-193m, ten par 4s ranging from 311-424m and four par 5s ranging from 424-460m. Fairways are tightly mown in some areas, teebeds are good. I couldn't comment on the greens as they cored them less than a week before I played. The first 6 holes takes you along a links-style feel back to the clubhouse. Make sure you avoid paying 'Hogan's toll' on the 141m 3rd. The 460m dogleg left 11th with an elevated tee is a sleeper hole with water alogn the left from tee to green with 3 bunkers guarding a rear to front sloping green. Apart from this the other par 5s are comparatively weaker. My pick on the outward nine are the 369m 13th with a blind tee shot over a ridge to large dam on the left, about 240m off the tee, to an elevated green guarding by 3 bunkers. The 169m 14th needs respect to a long narrow green with bunker left and bush over the back. The most picturesque (back nine) hole is the 344m 15th with a slightly elevated tee cut from the forests to a hole which sweeps to the left with water from tee to green along the left. Played here in the Saturday competition on 25/09/2010 and paid $31 comp fees. Good company for the 4.5 hour round, but shame I couldn't score more than 34 points. This course along with Bermagui are my favourites along the Eurobodalla coastline.

A bit disappointing. The scenery is spectacular but the course has major water issues at the moment and they are not watering the fairways. There are alot of blind tee shots which as a first time player at the course makes judging when to hit and where difficult and does not help the speed of play. I look forward to playing when the course is at its best.
