Played there NYE 2011 and green fees were only $10 (9 or 18). Complementary pull cart was great (I didn't have one with me) and our group played the back 9 due to a small wait to hit off from the 1st. The fairways looked in good condition, and the water hazards that were empty when I last played the course 3 years back were now full. But we were very disappointed when we got to the greens on each hole. The majority were temporary greens mown into the fairway, and those that were the regular green were bare and sandy in places and in poor condition. I'm aware that this club has had financial problems of late and the condition of the greens may result in this. Overall though the layout was quite good, slightly challenging and enjoyable and forgiving in some areas. Back for a drink at the clubhouse we were informed by a longtime member that new greens were going in in February and would be instant turf (Santa Ana as opposed to the current Bent). This would improve the course greatly but I won't be heading back for at least a year.

Measures 5793m Par 71 with four par 3s ranging from 146-162m, eleven par 4s ranging from 275-400m and three par 5s ranging from 472-484m. The grass greens are slow with subtle breaks - enough of a challenge. The teebeds were a little bare and barren in places - needs to be flatter. The fairways were lush in pockets, but mostly dry with little topsoil grass cover. Water comes into play on the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 15th, 16th and 17th. Nearly all greens and fairways are unbunkered, which is surprising, given the iconic Perry Sandhills nearby and the adjoining sandy landscape - only seems logical that the course would more indicative of its natural landscape...it should also be noted that the town receives less than 300mm (roughly 12 inches) of precipitation a year. The front nine is a little uninspiring, although the highlight would be the 475m slight dogleg left 9th, with OOB along the left and a bunkerless green backs backs onto the Old Gaol. The back nine is a little more challenging with some shorter par 4s requiring accuacy with an iron off the tee. Trees narrow the landing area here. The closing 4 hoes are my favourite holes on the course. The 288m 15th with water right and 2 bunkers grenside left and a bunker 20m short of the green is a little different. As is the 352m 16th with right off the tee and water catching balls hit 20-40m short left. The watery neck also snakes its way 30m short right of the green. The 155m 17th has a water levee bank along the right side of the green, whilst the 370m 18th has water 90m from the green on the left with a levee bank (which protects the town) along the right. The local rule is that the ball is in play on the outermost roadway edge of any bank. But to hit there requires a very wayward shot! The town is uniquely located at the confluence of two great rivers: Murray and the Darling. The golf club is located behind the Old Wentworth Gaol and diagonally opposite the Pioneer World Folk Musuem. Played here 01/08/2010 and paid $20 green fees in the honesty box. I've played all 6 golf courses within the Mildura region (7 - if you count Robinvale) and I'm happy to say Wentworth GC is worth the 35km drive along the Silver City Highway from Mildura.

A nice pleasant course slowly getting back on track what with the drought and All. Friendly club members add to a great golf environment.
