The first 12 holes at Taree play on the opposite side of Wingham Rd to the clubhouse and are quite undulating in parts. The 1st tee is a spectacular par 3 with a severely elevated tee, a hazard right and a sand trap on the left of the green.  Other notable holes include the 172m par 3 4th with a large dam to carry and the left dogleg par 5 8th with an elevated tee, water left and a bunker guarding the right side of a tight green with trouble if you spray. The back nine plays mostly back over the road and the highlight is the 130m par 3 14th with a large gum blocking the right side of the green which is also surrounded by four bunkers. This isn’t necessarily a tough par 3 but if the flag is tucked over on the right, it can be tricky to make par. The facilities at Taree are top rate for a regional course with carpet like fairways and superb greens that rival any course in the region. A fantastic twilight green fee of $15 after 2pm is superb value in the summer months and is another great reason to have a round at this great course when visiting the Manning Valley.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the superb conditioning of Taree GC. The course itself is held back slightly by a certain sameness of a lot of holes - there are a lot of dogleg par fours that are between 320-340m. By country course standards this is a very enjoyable place to play.

And the Great Northern on tap after the round was exceptionally cold!

Nice Local town/club course. Greens were in excellent condition. Was an enjoyable track, and while not long, over half the holes placed accuracy at a premium to allow a good score. Greens were relatively flat, and the bunkers on the smallish to shallow side. This is a course I would take newcommers to golf, or the once a year hacker for an enjoyable/fun round, yet still a challenge for the keen golfer The 3 extra holes are unique, looks like they have been squahsed in to fit after extensive renovations/extension of the RSL/Golf Club house

I’m not Tiger Woods (fairly evident and not just my golfing prowess), so I enjoyed the track. The challenge is there for the low marker if you want it but for the average marker the challenge is in being consistent. $30 per player + $30 for the cart (a must on the hills)

Having played many courses on the min-north coast, from Forster & Tuncuury in the south to Nambucca Heads island course in the north, including Emerald Downs Port Macquarie and Camden Haven Kew,and I firmly believe Club Taree (as it has been known since late 2006) to be one on the best on the coast. The greens staff can be relied upon to always have the course in optimum condition no matter what the weather. There are 21 holes – 18 of which form the championship course and the other three are primarily for social playes or those who find the hilly areas from holes 1 to 12 a bit hard to handle. The main clubhouse and pro-shop are on the finishing side of the Taree to Wingham road, with a tunnel underpass recently constructed for joining both sides of the course. The course currently plays at 5712 metres par 71 for members and 5190 metres par 73 for ladies. The staff in the pro shop are extremely helpful and they offer a wide range of gear – clothing, clubs, bags, buggies – it’s all there. The course can be a challenge, but familiarity does not breed contampt here – quite the opposite. The more I play it the better I play it.

The Taree golf course is an experience that ,as a golfer, you should avail your self .

The course is split by the main Taree/Wingham road with 12 holes on the hilly western side, and a further 9 holes and the clubhouse on the less undulating eastern side of the road.

Recent changes to the course in 2004 saw 4 new holes created and a new clubhouse erected with the amalgamation of the Taree Golf club and the Taree RSL club. The new course has lifted from Par 69 to Par 71.

The course is known for treelined fairways, small greens that have heavy borrows and reasonably short ,tight Par 4's. In recent years it has perpetually been in excellent condition and currently (Jan 06) is as good as it has been in the past 20 years.

The view from the first tee is almost worth the admission price with a 190m par 3 that drops 30-40 metres to the green whilst you look out over the Manning Valley in the distance. The first 9 holes have water hazards to battle with before crossing the road to some tighter more treelined holes to finish off the day.

I think the 8th would rate as one of the best Par 5s in the district with a cluster of large gums preventing all but the best placed drive from going for the green in 2. Played as a Par 5 it is a fairly regulation hole , but the greedy are often punished by several water hazards that wait an errant second. At only 450m it yields very few eagles which is rare these days
