COURSE DETAILS

Considered by many to be one of the best courses on the Northern Rivers, Casino Golf Club’s course is challenging for experienced players without being too daunting for the beginner or social golfer.

The 18-hole layout is a par 70 with an AGR rating of 69, ladies par of 72 with an LGU rating of 70.

The course is divided into a 10-hole lower section around the clubhouse and a top section of 8 holes a short walk across the road.

The club has recently engaged the services of David Burrup Course Designs to re-develop the course over a period of time.

This year has seen the establishment of three new greens to add an extra challenge and variety to the golfer.

Enjoyed a wet afternoon at Casino. Found the greens and tee boxes to be in excellent condition and most of the fairways were fairly well maintained especially after a long dry spell. There were some rough bits of fairway but most of the hitting zones were in good nick. An interesting variety of holes with some very short and quite long holes in each of the par 3, 4 and 5 categories. The first par 3 3rd hole is 195 uphill with bunkers! When I strayed from the fairway I usually had to take the punishment hitting out sideways, there are plenty of trees lining the usually wide fairways. The 1st is a tough start with a narrow dogleg fairway. Good value for money.

Casino Golf Club is your typical country track with wide fairways and well suited for beginners and serious golfers alike. There is a bit of water on the front but only really in play on a couple of holes. Forgiving fairways and some shortish par 4's will hopefully bring some good scores but the real test is on the putting greens. Some are quite narrow and tough to hit and putting can be daunting at times with fast downhill putts a plenty if you approach inaccurately. The most interesting hole on the course is probably the short par 4 1st. Measuring just 289m, it is tempting to cut a driver as far as you can but water left and a sneaky stream in front of the green can possibly turn a birdie opportunity into a real mess. There aren't a lot of surprises out there but $25 for 18 holes is good value and well worth a hit next time you visit the northern rivers hinterland.

I played this course in august last year and found it to be a great little country track. A good mix of holes. And definitely a place where you will get rewarded for playing good golf. I played in a saturday comp and the members i played with were quite welcoming. I would play there again for sure

Great course for all levels Golfer. Well placed bunker and water makes the course that extra bit challenging. Not very hilly makes the day and enjoyable walk. Best hole is the third hole, a long par 3 with a large green with an equally large bunker to the front left of it.

Not too bad a course, certainly better than Lismore. Interestingly, there are 7 holes in one area near the clubhouse and then you walk some distance and cross a major road to play the other 11 holes. However, the fairways are well grassed and the greens are good and there are some interesting holes.
