This course has come a long way in the past few years, luckily with no major flooding for a while. (the last major flood knocked out a few holes)
A lovely course on a day with a gentle breeze & good for those drives up & down each fairway.
However a because of the layout of the course- a lot just feels like going back & forwards.
Bellingen is the sort of course that if your not a member, its unlikely to be one you would pick out for a round anytime soon.
A bland nine holes awaits with little variation and limited scenery.
The greens are small and raised above the fairways with steep runoffs and are 328 couch with numerous other grasses invading, making putting a bit of a lottery. The tees are small and also very uneven making teeing difficult. Fairways are ok.
I found the course very disapointing after expecting more when driving past.
Measured Par 35 2662m with three Par 3s ranging from 120-185m, four Par 4s ranging from 300-345m and 2 Par 5s ranging from 455-525m. Typical country course with flat fairways, slow upside-down saucerlike grass greens, with poor teebeds. Some fairways were once levee banks for the river, and the scenery is bland.
No water hazards (that comes into play-the river will collect any ball 150m off line), no bunkers, elevated tees/greens or even lay-up options. Just hit it straight, and run it up to the green and you are in good shape.
Played here 10/4/06 and paid $10 for 9 holes. It is located in town and has bar facilities in the recreation club.
