Set amongst beautiful native and exotic trees, the course is in a peaceful setting, with changing colours and aspect with the four seasons. Autumn is a particularly beautiful time in Armidale with so many spectacular trees, but each season has its own special magic. Beautiful native birds are regularly seen.

The kikuyu grass fairways provide consistent lush cover while the bent grass greens have been designed to present a true and reliable putting surface. 25 sand bunkers protect the greens, adding interest and a little more challenge! The course is constantly maintained in excellent condition to ensure that members and visitors can appreciate and enjoy our challenging layout.

The par 72 course for men and 73 for women provides an excellent test of golf requiring accurate strokeplay and careful reading of greens for a successful round.

Anywhere away from the coast is suffering badly from the big dry. Armidale is no exception. The fairways are mostly sun burnt grass and soft dust but the greens are in magnificent condition. With a bit of spring rain it will bounce back well. Our wives did enjoy the extra long run on fairways.

Armidale Golf Club is set well above the township and on the 1st, 8th and 10th tees you get some great views of the local CBD. Most of the layout is reasonably flat but a few elevated tees and greens change things up nicely. The uphill par 5 9th has a severely elevated green and at times the pin might be hidden on your approach. Other highlights on the front include the uphill par 3 7th with water to clear en route to an elevated green and the downhill 415m par 4 8th (index 2) with great views and a right bending fairway to a well bunkered green. The back nine consists of three par 3s, three par 4s and three par 5s. The 145m par 3 14th has a narrow tee shot with water right of the green and OOB lurking just over the back and the par 5 15th is slightly downhill and an opportunity to reach the green in two. The overall presentation of this course is top rate with well maintained fairways and bunkers and some of the finest greens you'll see in a regional city. They are quite large in area and some subtle break can make for some testing putts. Like the surrounding district, the course features some spectacular deciduous trees and an interesting layout, great facilities and a real country feel make a round at Armidale a must when visiting this beautiful New England region.

Not a difficult course. verything laid out in front of you but greens are hit-and-miss, some good, some crap. Tees need levelling and fairways very thinly grassed. Not my choice of a good golf course.

A great course for Country NSW. Very well laid out course that provides a challange on each shot. This course still has plenty of potential and if they can get the Greens to be a bit quicker would be an outstanding golf course.

For what is essentially a country town golf course, this one is a winner. But that kind of makes sense given that Armidale is an especially pretty (and certainly unique) country town. It's the beautiful (exotic - especially for regional NSW) trees that set this course apart. It's simply a lovely place to be (except for winter, I understand, as it gets very chilly). The fairways are also well maintained as are the grass greens (although it can get a tad muddy down the bottom). It's not a massively long course so walking is fine, although there are carts available. All this plus very reasonable green fees make this course a must if you're in the area.

Hard to stay impartial after a shocker round. Also not used to playing in jeans and woollies! But this is a well set out and well looked after course. Half a star ahead of the usual country town standard. Trouble for a course virgin is in the number of blind shots, where hitting a straight shot down the "middle" may not be the best option. Greens are well protected without being impossible. Fairways are in good nick considering the frosts. And if you have any trouble walking at all, grab a buggy. Still got the yips so my rating of the greens useless! Playing partners showed good touch though and greens seemed true after drying out. Playing mid day this time of year may be the go. Would like to come back with a decent game. The Relic.
