Played here on 6 February 2015. Course from tee to green was in fantastic condition but given the heavy rain and blazing sunshine the area has had all summer it was to be expected. Greens ran very true and were consistent across the course. We were paired with two members and they were very welcoming and were very forthcoming with their course knowledge. The other members we met at the bar afterwards were similarly friendly and welcoming. Only real issue is the bunkers: many had large pools of standing water in them and those that didn't were either slush or bare. Apparently the club is undertaking a program to fix this issue across the course this year, will be interesting to see how it goes. No particularly memorable holes, but well worth a hit around if you like Norman courses.

Played on 19 July 2015 Fairways were in reasonable condition for winter. Tees were a bit chopped up on some holes. Greens had a wintery look to them (not a lot of growth) but that is expected this time of year. The course itself is good on the front 9. Good variation to the holes with some tighter Par4s and some with more room. The back 9 is pretty ordinary for mine. Both the Par5s are heavily protected up at the green so even if you smash your driver 250+m you are still not encouraged to have a crack at the green. It is pretty much a layup with a short iron and then flick another one onto the green. Not much fun there :( A couple of the back 9 Par4s are also not very inspiring, short and protected by lots of bunkers because there is not much else that could be done to increase their challenge. The Par3 are pretty good however so I guess that is something :)

Played here 08/06! Resort course, few good holes but pretty ordinary really! Holes 11 thru 16 are very unmemorable! Staff were friendly and welcoming but @ $129 they would want to be! Overpriced for my money , prob should be more in the $80 region would be fair ! Worth a look if you can get a special but apart from that I prob won't be back.

Back in the Hunter again and thought we'd play the Vintage as it had been a while and one thing that stood out as we drove in was the amount of houses there now , but that was put to the side as we hit the fairways , wow , I don't think you can get better fairway anywhere in NSW , tees were great too but the disappointment still is the greens that we were told had been cored over 6 weeks ago , grainy and thin and wet , even in hot hunter valley , sad that the greens let the vintage down again. Still I won the money from my mates so alls well the ends well, but for the money it's not up to scratch in my opinion .

Upon our arrival at The Vintage as part of our yearly golfing trip, I had very high expectations of this golf course. The clubhouse and facilities are first class and the surrounding wine district really gives it a prestige feel. The course is well bunkered and water is in play on 10 or 11 holes. Most of the fairways bend a little and some of the greens are quite large and have some serious break in them. Highlights include the par 3 8th with water to carry and heavy bunkering and the par 5 10th with a dam to navigate over on your approach. The overall presentation was quite reasonable but some of the greens were in ordinary condition and probably not expected for the price you pay. For $135 weekend rate and a superb reputation I expected to experience something I hadn't before on a golf course. Unfortunately it didn't quite meet those expections. I'm surely not reviewing a golf course based on its members only coffee lounge and fancy hand soaps and jazz music in the locker rooms. Nice course, you can't deny that but it's overpriced...

Would 2nd mattlach's opinion - overall conditioning, lack of risk reward options, lack of a drinks cart - all things you expect from a course charging $129 on a weekend.
