This is a nice, typical country golf course. Presented in nice condition (despite lack of rain) and a pretty good layout with a reasonable array of holes. 9 holes, 18 tees, plenty of variety not overtaxing on length but you need to be reasonably accurate. Nice greens. 2 Par 5's, 2 Par 3's and 5 Par 4's, $10 for 9 holes is a bargain for a course of this condition!!!

Played the course over the October long weekend.  In really good condition.  Good speed on the greens and some holes have slopes or undulations.  Good sand in the bunkers.  Not that much travel on the fairways and if you strayed a bit the ball wanted to hide in the rough.  You start on a par 5 with a large tree blocking your second shot.

If you have the time or are passing through I suggest having a hit here.  Friendly local volunteer gave me some tips for the course.

Great little town, I wish I lived close to take advantage of the course and all the other sporting facilities located together.

Denman’s 9 hole track is well suited for beginners with cheap green fees, wide fairways and minimal hazards. The more serious golfer will still find challenges out there though with numerous stand alone tress blocking fairways. In particular, the par 4 4th /13th has a tall gum blocking the fairway 150m or so from the tee box and with water right, hitting the fairway can be pot luck. Another notable hole is the short par 4 6th/15th with water to clear off the tee, a narrow sloping fairway and two bunkers guarding the elevated green. This should be a routine par but bogey or worse can be a real possibility if the tee shot is sprayed. Green fees are $12 and Denman isn’t a bad bush track to have a quick hit on your travels along the Golden Highway.

I was passing through this town, not expecting much, surprised by the cafe vibe of Denman, drove over the railway line and found a bonanza of sporting facilities a stones throw from the centre of town. Top little olympic pool, tennis courts, basketball stadium, various ovals and a decent 9 hole track with friendly locals. I started to settle in to all this. From what I gathered the expanse of sporting options was a local town production and its all on a local, not rip you off, community basis. It all felt very 1960s, non -corporate. No big fences, grafitti or vandalism. Very old Aussie. The golf course is ”$10 for the day, $7 juniors” so you can’t beat that. No pro shop, just a building for members use. An honesty box for green fees. Nice undulating course, wide fairways, big trees, good greens and great views. Hardly anyone on the course when I played. A couple of water carries. A few dog legs. Decent length. All good. You could tell the members knew they were on a good thing. Not flash but honest.
