The Taralga Sands Course is maintained by a small group of voluntary labour. Most of the time the fairways are in good condition given that no irrigation systems are in place. There is an art to playing sand greens and it can be a challenge to begin with.

Definitely worth a visit.

I went looking for this course today but couldn't find it. The lady down the pub said that it had closed down two - three years ago.

Measures 2527m Par 35 with two par 3s ranging from 130-150m, six par 4s ranging from 245-330m and the short 435m Par 5 4th/13th. There are 9 white sand-scrapes with mostly straight holes and no bunkers and basic golf facilities. Front and back nine tees are the same length. The natural grass fairways are not regularly cut and are mostly ankle-high. Fees are $5. Course access is 2.5km south of the village centre on the way to Goulburn approximately 900m above sea level. Taralga itself is a small village of around 350 people at approximately 850m above sea level and on the fully sealed road between Oberon and Goulburn. Like other towns on the Southern Tablelands it can get bitterly cold with regular snowfalls in Taralga, Crookwell and Oberon during the winter months.
