Located just 5 minutes from Canberra CBD, Royal Military College Golf Club is the ideal course to have a hit on your travels through our nations capital. The 9 hole layout has dual tees and a couple of alternate greens. The course is in good condition with well irrigated fairways and soft greens but the bunkers are a little shabby and probably the only letdown. The only water hazard comes into play on the par 4 6th/15th with a dam sitting on the left 200m from the tee. There are certainly other courses in the region that are classier than RMC but for value for money this is the best you'll get in Canberra. The course is accessible 7 days a week and is $20 for 18 holes or just $12 after 4pm.

Played RMC today and must say I was extremely disappointed. I had noted previous postd stating the course was in good condition. I saw very few positives as this course is in extremely poor condition and is easily the worst course in the Canberra Area. I can't remember playing a worse course in the last 5 years. This course makes Capital and Belconnen look like St Andrew's. From Tee to Green. Tee box's - Uneven, inconsistent levels of grass coverage (some have more dirt than grass). Fairways - Large dead patches, regular dirt patches, very poorly maintained. Bunkers - Full of grass/weeds, basically no sand. Sand is old and very hard. Greens - Even green has dirt dead patches, some green have patches on dirt. Several greens were water logged and unplayable. Overall this course need some love, maintenance is pretty much none existent. I will not be returning to this course. Definitely not worth the $20/$30 they are requesting. I am being generous giving this course 1 star.

Time for an updatemeasures 2703m Par 34 with three par 3s ranging from 106-173m, five par 4s ranging from 300-402m and the 497m 9th/18th. As mentioned the course is a 9-hole layout with 11 greens and 18 tees. Course has small-to-medium sized bentgrass greens with patches of winter ryegrass. The lush fairways also consist of winter ryegrass and every hole is bunkered with a total of 22 bunkers (including the 2 bunkers on the 17th green) on the course. 1st/10th-402m plays slightly downhill with a bend to the left from 220m off the tee. OOB homes line the rightside off the fairway and the green is guarded by 2 bunkers. Quite a challenging good opening par 4 hole. 2nd-157m to a green guarded by 2 shortside bunkers. The 142m-10th bunkerless green is to the left of the trees and is smaller than the 2nd green. 3rd/12th-359m is a straight hole with the OOB Morshead Drive far right to a green visible from the tee mound guarded by 2 bunkers. 4th/13th-497m is quite a reasonable length par 5 which plays even longer given it is slightly uphill and doglegs gently right from 280m off the tee to a green guarded by 2 shortside bunkers. 5th-106m / 14th-108m is the shortest par 3 on the course but its green is well bunkered with 3 bunkers including 1 hidden rear bunker. Easiest hole on the course. 6th-380m / 15th-360m requires you to cross a roadway to play what is probably the best hole on the course. There is a small crest 200m off the 6th tee (slightly shorter off the 15th tee) where there is a hidden bunker right over the crest. The fairway doglegs left with a small red-and-yellow staked pond on the dogleg corner. Longer hitters may wish to clear all hazards which will require a 245m carry off the 6th tee. The green is also the largest on the course and is a 2-tier front sloping and 25m long guarded by 2 shortside bunkers. One of the most challenging holes on the course. 7th-173m / 16th-135m requires a teeshot over the same pond as the 6th which ends up to 20m from the putting surface. Most challenging par 3 on the course. Off the back nine 16th tee mound the hole is much easier. 8th-300m / 17th-348m cross back over the small roadway to the tee mound which is shared with the 17th and plays gently downhill to the 8th green which is straight and visible from the tee mound with 2 bunkers. The 17th green is tucked amongst some trees and is guarded by 2 bunkers and the hole doglegs right from 250m off the 17th tee. 9th-329m / 18th-308m plays slightly uphill with a slight bend left from 200m off the tee. There is a fairway bunker on the left about 100m out of the green. The green is guarded by 2 front bunkers. Course elevation ranges from 560-580m above sea level and is located between the city and the airport. Played here 20/4/2012 with $20 non-member green fees to play 9 holes. The club leases the golf course land off the Australian Defence Force and its members own the clubhouse. Course access is fairly unrestricted at the moment for Commonwealth Land, however, gates will be placed on the northern entrance to the Royal Military College grounds. RMC (Duntroon) is a well-maintained 9-hole layout with short-to medium sized tree-lined fairways. The members are quite friendly and can be proud that their course is more of a challenge than some of the 18-hole layouts in the Canberra metropolitan area. Good course conditioning here. I recommend a quick 9 holes here.

The RMC Course is a delightful 9 hole course that has different tees for some holes and two greens for others. It makes for an interesting 9 hole layout. Don’t be fooled by the short length or the 68 rating. You need to keep on the fairways and avoid the well established trees. Great value for money and a welcoming club.

The RMC Course is situated in the beautiful surrounds of the Canberra Capital. Teeing off around Sunrise is the best view you could possibly get on a fine day in the bush capital. A Challenging but enjoyable course, get out and have a round at RMC.

Pleasant 9 hole course with more than its fair share of multi tiered and sloped greens making some putts very challenging. On my first visit my group had our balls stolen by a crowe who was picking off tee shots by raiding from a nearby tree on the third fairway. Nice Course!
