Played here 14th of April 2018. Greens were good. Fairways was slightly patchy. Bunkers needs some attention. Most holes were repetitive. Only two holes stood out, 11th (Par 4 hugging the huge dam) and 17th (par 3 over water). If enough attention was given to it, it can easily be brought back to its glory days. In terms of the green fees, definitely value for money.

Played here 21st March with 3 members in midweek comp. Greens were renovated a few weeks prior but putted reasonably well.

A most enjoyable round, easy walking and scenic course that requires accuracy off the tee and distance control on your approaches.

The condition of the course was good but left disappointed by the lack of definition with grading of rough and some bunkers need tidying up.

Bones are good - just some tidying up

and it can creep back into the nations top

100 again!!

What a course. Beautiful fairways to play off, greens were very true. In general the course was just very well manicured. The back 9 is one of the best I've played. A great test. Great value

Yowani is a great course. The greens are beautifully true, although at times a touch flat and one dimensional. The layout is interesting with some challenging doglegs, although the course is quite short in some sections, but then offset with longer holes in other sections. The course gets very cold in winter, even for Canberra. The club manages the course really well, it doesn't overbook the course so you'll need to book ahead often.

This is a good Members country course. In comparison to the other courses in ACT it is relatively flat, with only a couple of holes having undulations, so can be walked easily. It is quite tight so accuracy off the tee is at a premium. The condtion of the course was not as good as other local courses with the fairways being a little variable in grass coverage, but I didn't get any bad lies so not too much of an issue. The layout is reasonable, with water in play on several holes. The greens were a bit on the slow side and looked a bit patchy but the ball rolled nicely. The bunkers were in poor condition with variable sand cover. I played in the Wednesday comp and we got around in about 4 hours. The members I played with were very friendly and the pro shop service was excellent. The clubhouse was inviting and had a nice, friendly atmosphere. The green fees of $35, including the comp fee are good value for what you get. Definitely worth a game if you are in the area.

Measures 6150m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 135-182m, ten par 4s ranging from 323-399m and four par 5s ranging from 445-520m. Course has 20-30m long medium sized bentgrass greens with patches of poa which play smooth with good speed and consistent roll. The medium-to-tall sized tree-lined layout has mostly pine-trees lining its fairways. The ryegrass fairways have several couch grass patches over its fairways, whilst the teebeds consist mostly of ryegrass. There are 3 large storage ponds on the course and water comes into play on holes 4,7,9,11,16 & 17. Every hole is bunkered and 3 holes have fairway bunkering off the tee (at 1, 2 & 15) with a total of 35 bunkers on the layout. FRONT NINE highlights include: the 370m slight bend left 5th (index 2) with the OOB Barton Highway far left to a green which slopes to the rightside bunker; the 175m 6th (index 9) with a slightly elevated tee above the green guarded by 3 bunkers; and the 345m 7th (index 11) which doglegs 60 degrees right from 200m off the tee with a large pond on the right requiring a teeshot left-centre of the fairway to attack the green guarded by a bunker short left. BACK NINE highlights include: the signature 323m 11th (index 5) has the large lake between the tee and the green which depending on your line requires a teeshot 220-260m to clear, or take iron and use the fairway to the left of the water to the green guarded by 2 shortside bunkers; the 375m straight 14th (index 3) has the narrowest driving area with tree-lined fairway from tee to a green with 2 bunkers; the other signature 156m 16th (index 7) to a 30m wide green which slopes to the water where it is only 3m from the front edge of the putting surface with 2 rear bunkers; and the 346m 17th (index 12) which plays along the entire leftside length of the large storage lake, where some trees between the fairway cut and the water right block the view to the green which is guarded by a bunker short left and the water is 1m short of the front edge of the putting surface. The back nine is somewhat more challenging with a few more signature holes which you will remember. Though it is strange that the 18th green is not visible from the clubhouse and it is over 150m to walk from the 18th green to the clubhouse itself. The 3 opening outward and inward holes layout mirror each other easy par 5, challenging par 4 & easy par 3. You could be forgiven for thinking that after a few holes the layout is boring, however, the layout uses the flat terrain reasonably well with good bunker-green complexes and some water to test your club selection. The back nine par 3s and the 17th are memorable holes and there are no hills to climb on this flat layout. Played here again most recently 20/4/2012 with $39 green fees. Good clubhouse with accommodation available, good practice facilities and 3 bowling greens. Yowani is one of the better conditioned and more challenging layouts in the Canberra metropolitan area. Most definately the top course of the northern suburbs. Maybe it is the flat layout and a few repetitive styled-holes (at 1-3 & 10-12), but I am not sure why the course doesn't quite get the accolades as Royal Canberra and Federal but Yowani is definitely one of the top 3 clay-based courses in Canberra. Highly recommend a round here.
